pug, totally agree. as with all "news", until you dig deep you wont see the value, and today people are seeing that its the non cash charges that killed the results.

Belated market reaction to yesterday's results. A lot to digest, not all of it positive, but FD after years of investment is in pole position in the US igaming and sports betting markets. As Fanatics and ESPNBet have shown, it's really hard to take market share, no matter how established your brand is. There will be an avalanche of results from various states over the next week, with the holy trinity of Mich,NJ,Penn and their sports/igaming numbers to particularly look out for. Igaming grew faster than sports in Q1, I'd expect that to continue in Q2&3. It's an exciting company to be invested in.

Euro 24 starts in 4 weeks June 14 to July 14. Biggest non annual betting event outside the World Cup & will benefit those with, unlike DK, strong divisions across England & the continentBoost in revenue to both Q2 & Q3 handily during a less busy time period

An aside: The unusual large 120m sale yesterday was matched in other large Footsie stocks Shell, BHP & Glencore so may have been a big player taking some London money off the table generally rather than a results driven one here

I think today will dip and then the next event of nyse primary listing will make a big change as multiples on flutter are a fraction of DK.

All about NY May 31 now for Jackson and the first figures as the primary over there. Smokescreen and keeping things up his sleeve is my take from the data. Huge NC launch numbers has made a big dent, as the only one this year potentially, they have thrown the gold kitchen sink at it to retain numero uno status. Also hidden unlike previously is a current trading update. He & we know New York has been strong in April 70m last year to 90m this so across the board likely similar but any reveal to come at a later dateExponential growth of igaming month on month in last few will be worth highlightingI See significantly they they moved the Head Office to NY on the QT. Read into that what you want...

I think the results are excellent. I try not to pay too much attention to all the noise around results, more focused on the emerging trend.I'm also relaxed about sets of results that revolve around gambling results! ( Reading books about randomness helps).I'm invested on the basis that in 2027,this will be a much bigger company.

Indeed, with daily trade total average 80m pounds a lone seller trade of 120m pounds worth in the first hour has temporarily skewed things

The market reaction seems rather muted. Selling on news is a long time known trend. If this is the sell off we are in good shape.

Hi dapper … I always appreciate that kind of question. Interactive investor is quoted this morning with “ Flutter shares are under pressure after it reported a 16% rise in first-quarter group revenue to $3.4 billion, missing analysts’ expectations for $3.57 billion. Quarterly US revenue rose by 32%, down from its previous estimate of 56% because of unfavourable results at the March Madness college basketball tournament”.

I had noted the $3.57bn forecast as being “according to LSEG data” in an article somewhere a few days ago so had been looking at our revenue this morning to gauge likely market reaction. I am not suggesting this is the crucial variable … just one benchmark among many.

RKeck, which broker forecasts are you referring to relation to an earnings miss at a global level?

I think we are conflating different issues. trictrac and I are not arguing that sports results don’t matter … just that the US sports results over time has a far bigger impact on earnings than UK soccer. My mild pessimism from a week ago ….”Relatively favourable UK football results help but the real action is American Football /basketball (“march madness”)̶1; seems close enough. Today’s earnings are a little disappointing with a material miss in global revenue (compared with brokers forecast) but long term trend still remains very positive. Onwards and upwards.

Excellent growth in the US
Good growth in UK & I, Italy and Adjarabet.
The white house was correct that sports results can have a big impact. US went from 56% to 32% in just two weeks.

Hi Whitehouse, just to understand you correctly, you interpret the share price fell £20 on one weekend in 9/23 of UK soccer results? That would represent a drop of £3.5bn in Flutter’s market cap (nearly 10x market cap of 888). If you are right, the company surely needs to look again as its risk controls/book management.

There is already strong turnover post 2.30pm UK time when NY opens. Inc extra panic. Lions share of the day today. Capital Group of LA have been in with Paddy Power days for over 3bn bucks now with 3 others 8pc plus. The umbrella signal a World company which Flutter is with a circa 50/50 split on profits right now inside and outside the US at prior numbers. Change at 1pc to the US as a finger in the air. Too much going on in the World to immediately need a name change. ie with no fanfare there are Indian cricket matches that have 20X the volume matched as a regular premier league game. GBP100m a game. Crazy gamblers. Every day right now & Flutter have Junglee on the ground primed

FLUT is so undervalued compared to DK, simply due its international primary listing issue that will b resolved at end may.

We will see when Americans individually, as family offices or funds now invest in FAND. You’re fun to play with.

Tric, agree wholeheartedly. i believe the move to NYSE is a huge one for our company. I also am firmly in the camp of changing the name to the corporation to match the brand. I hope that FLUT becomes FAND.

Hi guys - I agree, let’s keep things cordial and rational. If you want delusional nonsense and name calling, then I suggest the Entain thread 😊

RKeck – You do in fact make a very good point. Short term sporting results are not even close to being a major influence on shareholder value. We all of us understand there will be good weeks for the books and bad weeks. Over a period like a year, this may make a difference of a few 10s or 100s of $millions maybe, but that is in any case less than 1% of the value of an internationally diversified $35 billion company. Just a few cents on the share price that will average out over time anyway.

What is more important, is that we are building our customer base, and that out customers are engaged. Especially in the US where we are still in the early days of grabbing market share. I care more about our handle market share than our GGR or NGR revenue share even though we all know that revenue matters most in the long term. I guess competitors can and will improve their products and hold shares over time, but it’s a lot harder to move established customers from one brand to another I believe.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the updates on sporting results from white house and others. And its definitely true that it’s a lot easier for management to tell the story every reporting date when the results have gone the company’s way!
