sdawson.
I completely agree with you. It was only when I started using the simplest of TA (support, resistance, double tops, bottoms and H&S) that my trading turned consistently profitable. All the indicators are fine but really only as confirmation of simple TA. We trade on different timescales, as you day trade and I trade over days sometimes weeks, but the same principles still hold.

If you ever wanted proof that most fundmanagers are less capable than the average punter - here it is:

LONDON, Dec 06, 2001 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- Merrill Lynch has reached an out
of court settlement with Unilever PLC, which claimed its pension funds had lost
$185 million through mismanagement, the companies announced Thursday.

Terms of the settlement, announced in court, were not disclosed.

"Merrill Lynch has agreed to pay a sum to the Unilever Fund without admission of
liability, and proceedings will be withdrawn. The companies said that they will
resume normal business relations," their statement said.

Unilever Superannuation Fund Trustees Ltd. said that $185 million had been lost
from its $5.7 billion fund in just five quarters by Mercury Asset Management
Group PLC in 1997 and 1998.

Merrill Lynch Investment Managers Ltd. took over Mercury Asset Management Group
PLC in 1997. Mercury had been Britain's largest institutional fund manager.

Matthew - it is now ! Any thoughts on the large trades though, I have been holding back (from buying) from this morning due to the large ? trades with mid pricing.

I'm new to this share and I admit they spooked me a little.

the main thing I learnt during the year was to keep it simple, I spent a long time experimenting with various indicators but now I'm only interested in support, resistance and completions of obvious technical patterns on the short timescale I have found suits me best.
