12/4/2002 08:09 | -- melferaj,, I agree about the value of candles, but it's horses for courses - < 1 year (say), candles are very good - longer term, the chart just becomes an unreadable mess, IMHO. I tend to use candles for 9 months or less, bars up to (say) 2 years, and lines over that. (If you look back through the charts, there is a substantial minority which are candles and bars). | zzaxx99

12/4/2002 07:58 | i note that all the graphs presented in this thread have been line graphs. i strongly suggest a shift to candle sticks or barcharts. you can see so much more. | melfaraj
12/4/2002 07:52 | -- Ape, You should be able to do all that with Metastock. I'm not a user, but searching for "Metastock" or "software" on here should find you dozens who are. | zzaxx99

11/4/2002 19:14 | This one is too easy -- 2 breakouts this year The 200 day ema is supportive and rising -- I left it off because with it, you lose some of the fine detail Again, the falling ma shows the 2001 breakouts were premature You can buy BGO on the American Stock Exchange -- for an ISA, even | pat o hat
11/4/2002 10:45 | Under the "Chart Alerts", Carbo (CAB) is in a "Gap Up" situation. My reason for mentioning this one is probably fairly obvious. :) | dontknowitall

11/4/2002 06:16 | James Fisher (FSJ, shipping services) This possibly illustrates the importance of a rising SMA -- the mid 2000 breakout maybe stalled for this reason. Great thread Sham. | pat o hat
11/4/2002 00:49 | suggestions for your watchlist only. I'm a bear, but interesting charts to research further watchlist NOK & TFG then sundry odds and sods that may breakout shortly with little resistance if you watch the price | theape
10/4/2002 17:13 | zz, dfs is an absolute beauty for various technical reasons which i do not wish to enter into here! welvery l chosen. | melfaraj
10/4/2002 17:06 | look at 'wos' | melfaraj
10/4/2002 16:48 | DFS look like they might finally be breaking out, no doubt helped by their recent good news from the taxman: Been in a trading range for several months, but now seems to have breached that resistance. Just made a 3 year high. Next resistance looks like 540p neckline of a reverse H&S in '98), then every 40p to 660p. MA200 has turned up price/MA10/20 made a golden cross in early March | zzaxx99
10/4/2002 16:31 | Doing a bit of work on IMI chart and lightened up a little. Got to rush but will post reasons tomorrow. | goodfella
10/4/2002 15:34 | another facet of volume is what is called 'positive volume balance'. a positive balance happens when volume increases with the rise of the stock price and decreases when the price drops. this indicates a reluctance on the part of holders to sell and at the same time a willingliness to buy on price increases. | melfaraj
10/4/2002 15:01 | And AUN going for it again as well | zzaxx99 |
