Fanta, I'd guess you have a 150 WEEK average there! Some charting sites do this -- give you n of the time interval selected

Sibir Energy, SBE

Rather perversely, since I own shares in it, I regard today's 10% rise as a non-breakout -- because the 150 day average is still falling. However, in a few weeks time, the SMA could turn up, and then it could have a proper go at a break.

Metnor Group, MTG made a chart breakout today, and hit new all-time high.
Not surprising, results 22/4/02, will confirm +50% growth in profit and contined positive outlook . The co. has already issued a positive trading statment on 18/1/02. P/E for 31/12/01 will only be 10.

I sold half my IMI position and presently would re-establish the full position at 285.

Judging from the copyright notice in them, they're either from or from ftinvestor, which uses the same chart engine (or did the last time I looked)

dom has been in the news of recent and has been performing well. it has broken through from a long established base, of rising trend, and with a gap! there is no overhead to worry about. i also like the fact that both the rsi and stochastics have not gone sky high, which is often the case with breakouts.

So GF, earlier in the thread you mentioned that you lightened a little. I assume you still hold some sort of position in IMI, or have you closed out your position with a view to getting aboard again if you see 285 on the BID. What say you?

Rgds.

worth watching WPP

keeps on trying to break through resistance at about 409 and failing.

could be fun if it makes it through.- watching

When I am confident in a position I go for it and on a CFD it only cost me
£13000 .

So £9000 in divis plus £40000 capital apppreciation is not to be sniffed at for a £13000 investment is a hell of a return in a few weeks :-))

I see 285 as a good entry point on a pullback so am on the bid there

2 of my favourite shorts recently (PYM & PJP) are now looking long.

PYM may be a better bet, but both very risky & volatile

After watching it for over 40 years, sooner or later you will have to take the plunge! :-)

Cheers goodfella, only 9K in divis - so just a small punt then ;-)
Still looking for 380, should be good support at 290 but much below that and I'm out...

Melfaraj - agree about LMC, it's been on my watchlist since the late 50's and I've just sat here watching it go up. Think it's the name and all it's synonymous with that puts me off, any other stock and I would have been in!

wholden...haven't looked at vod for ages, but...

Three Year Chart

didn't show much...i.e. impossible to pick the bottom

5 Year Chart

This shows that Vod is bang on the the 1998 low...so at a very important support level?

Re IMI .......there is a very bearish divergence between the price line and the ten day rate of change.

I am watching closely having already taken £9000 in dividends I do not want to be to greedy.

lmc is on the verge of a breakout. cash rich and with very interesting long term chart development. since anouncing its recent acqusition it has been performing even better. i expect a decisive breakout next week, perhaps with a gap.note the divergences in the macd.
a useful strategy for investing in imanent breakout situation is to devide intended investment capital into 3 lots. first lot to be invested befor the breakout, 2nd lot on breakout and 3rd on comfortably clearing the resistances.

zzaxx99, i agree with you.
