31/10/2021 19:05 | Hello ADVFN'ers Having recently started investing in High Yield shares for a SIPP, this company is one of the investments. The surprise (to me) was the annual income amount from these, which will be re-invested - into the same / similar. So far, invested equally in these 10 companies - Hopefully fairly high yield and also diverse: DEC DLG EVR IMB LGEN MNG POLY PSN RIO VOD Investing yields (monthly) from these into ULVR and GSK to build up to the same percentage stake in all 12 holdings. Rump holdings from before this strategy are : AJB, GRG, PTEC and SHOE - These may be sold to supplement her HY strategy. Main reasons for posting - apologies for the repeated post on the boards of these main holdings. 1) I read these individual company boards, and would like to thank posters for their insights, thoughts and news. 2) Does this make sense ? - Are there any major problems regarding this scenario ? 3) With a 5-6 figure portfolio, is this putting too many eggs in one basket ? 10-12 shares. 4) Any HY shares missing, not in sectors covered ? - Would prefer not to diverge into non UK companies, unless there's a valid reason. 5) Is there a HY ADVFN thread that may be useful to read ? I used to enjoy The Fool HYP board, and do read quite a lot of investment HY articles. 6) Usually investing in smaller, more speculative companies, I find these large company accounts much more difficult to read/analyse, so leaving it to the yield aspect (mainly). 7) I am also starting to put together a 'fun' yield portfolio, from which I aim to obtain a daily dividend, but that's an entirely different subject ! lol Thank you all, for your interesting and valuable posts, and for any suggestions I can research. | dsct
25/10/2021 17:58 | eggbacon Didn't have any money then. Price was lowest in March 2014. Did you buy then and hold till now? | scrwal
25/10/2021 17:06 | Why didn't you buy in Jan 2016. Then you'd be getting 100+% on cost!!! | eggbaconandbubble
25/10/2021 15:12 | Fortunately I bought in June 2020 and I am assuming a longer term div of 50c per year which gives me 12% on cost. Anything above that is a bonus like this year so far. | scrwal
25/10/2021 05:49 | FTSE 100 metal miner and steel producer Evraz offers a yield of 12.2% and has seen a share price drop in the past few months. Besides a correction in metal prices, the company is also facing higher taxes in its home country of Russia. I reckon these are among the reasons why analysts expect its earnings to decline next year. A drop in earnings can also have a bearing on its dividends. Even then, its forward dividend yield is expected to be 8.5%, which looks pretty good to me. These projections can be subject to change based on evolving circumstances, but are still a good place to start. Keeping this in mind, I have bought the stock for my income investments. | garycook

19/8/2021 09:40 | stunningly cheap ex divi, now forward yielding well in excess of 10% at current sp | elpirata
11/8/2021 14:47 | I bought in last year at 285 and 367. The yield is superb as is the capital gain. It will dip tomorrow but will also rise on divi reinvestment in Sept. the trend is up and a good one to tuck away for the foreseeable. IMO obviously. | dovey21
11/8/2021 14:39 | Ex dividend day is definitely tomorrow. As eggbaconandbubble posted, ex dividend day is almost always a Thursday. So today is the last chance to buy if wanting to get that big dividend. The dividend is taken out of the share price first thing tomorrow. What happens to the share price for the rest of tomorrow will likely depend on whether tomorrow is an up or down day for Mining sector. If tomorrow is an up day for the sector the Evraz share price might well recover a lot of that approx 40p mark down. But if the sector is down tomorrow then EVRAZ might fall by more than the dividend. So deciding whether to buy now and get the dividend or miss out on the dividend and hope to buy lower is not an easy one. The best option was to buy near the 210p low last year! Fabulous dividend yield now for those who did. Same applies with Ferrexpo, which also goes ex a very big dividend tomorrow and where the share has more than tripled from the crazy low last year. AND Rio Tinto also goes ex a £4.04p dividend tomorrow. I hold all 3. | kenmitch
