Hi chrisis33 it's hotter here than the States :)) Didn't get to reply before going but those spreadsheets wouldn't open for some reason. I'm not in any way tech savvi so it could just be me. Yes a decent buy on Friday could be someone reinvesting the dividend.

Ali i need a new barbeque myself but don't want to buy another and jinx the hot spell.

Thanks Playful. I'm trying to get my head around the uplift Crawshaws may see, but last year we literally didn't see a summer and July in particular was a washout. Despite this Crawshaws achieved an EBITDA over £650K for the year. The previous year's weather wasn't much better.

Now this year we've seen 2 positive outlook statements. And that's before the sunshine arrived.

As for the impact on the bottom line, it's very hard to gauge. But a 5% improvement in topline revenue at constant margins and costs would add about £400K to full year EBITDA, taking it over £1 million, with pretax profit around £650K all things being equal.

I suspect Crawshaws may be hitting or exceeding these numbers. Time will tell.

Morrisons said it expected sales of burgers to rise by 500% this weekend with the weather ripe for barbeques.

Christopher Ellis from the supermarket said: "We expect to sell 300,000 burgers this week and we expect to sell 700,000 packs of sausages over the weekend."

The sales of our BBQ packs are very significant for us and if you refer back to previous trading updates you'll see them mentioned.

It's not easy to understand from past performance how the great weather may be boosting sales, but I'm hopeful that Crawshaws are selling plenty of BBQ meats. General retail footfall may also be benefitting.

I see from other threads that AIM stocks may be ISAable from 5th August.

BBQ Weather is set to last at least until the end of July, so we should see a further boost to trading into half year end.

Good find! I had not seen this, so here it is for everyone to read and lets hope they contact @SkutchMate and thank them.

We have tried out many meat offers, including the great asda 3 for 10. We thought that was great, until we learnt to head to the market. Our butcher of choice is crawshaws which does great family packs of meat at 5 for 10 or 3 for 6. There is also random offers as well, such as lots and lots of bacon at a pound a pop, it was safe to say we were baconed out for a while. However, the downside is we cant overly meal plan because it really does depend on what is on offer.

We usually take the safe bet and pretty much always pick up a packet of sausages, and mince. The mince does us for 2 or 3 meals, thrown into the slow cooker and then frozen ready for a later date.

We then usually pick up something "random" this can be anything from steak, chicken and peppers or garlic chicken. Recently we have opted for or 3 for 6 due to lack of funds, but come payday we will stock up with 5 for 10. The meat usually does the week and we head every tuesday down to the market, and get the funny looks for being the youngest couple there.

Most of the meat is freezable, although make sure you check - as some has been previously frozen! Even it if saves a little bit of money it helps, and i find the quality and portion size is well worth the money to that spent in a supermarket!

Hi Playful

Barbecue food sales have been all over the news of late - so I'm (pleasantly?) surprised at the lack of interest here.

By the way, did you catch this tweet and blogpost link the other day?

Today we are talking about budget food shopping and why we love @CrawshawButcher hxxp://thegeekandher.blogspot.co.uk

Good read across for Crawshaws. Weather should be making a considerable difference to sales volumes.

Can sell above mid-price ... I wonder why the MMs persist with showing such a wide spread with 3.75p on the bid?

You are absolutely correct they must engage the media and get the word out there.

It's good they shout on the streets but let's shout in the media too...

More of this please Crawshaws - building a few relationships with local press can work wonders. Free coverage, and often much more effective than paid for advertising:

Reasons to be cheerful as the sun promises to keep shining

NO NEED to put away the barbecues and sunglasses just yet...

The warm weather looks set to continue and companies across the county are having to keep up with demand on summer items.

The Met Office has confirmed that the current heat wave is likely to be the longest spell of warm and settled UK summer weather since July 2006, which saw temperatures soar beyond 28C in many areas ...

Nick Grahame, chief forecaster at the Met Office, said: "We have high pressure over the UK at the moment which normally brings us fine and settled weather at this time of year. The current outlook suggests this may be dominating our weather through the week and possibly towards the middle of July." ...

... And the barbecues are continuing this week with Crawshaws butchers in the Westfield Centre seeing high sales in seasoned barbecue meats yesterday.

I guess it's a case of expanding in the types of locations where Crawshaws are achieving best ROI and profitability. University towns and cities with a strong retail footfall. I think Nottingham must be on the hit list, given the latest opening in Derby - and Sheffield too.

For now, very happy with the focus on ensuring the current store footprint to ensuring that profits and positive cash generation are maximised.

Chisis33, a good synopsis and no doubt the weather is playing a very positive factor too, its blistering here in Yorkshire. I would like to see them consolidate within Yorkshire as Betty's have done so successfully:

hxxp://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/business/business-news/bettys-brews-up-a-record-10m-profit-following-year-of-growth-1-5830347

The company has famously refused to open branches outside of Yorkshire.

No problem.

Worth bearing in mind that a 5% increase in revenue adds nearly £1m to the top line and £440k to the bottom line.

The FD bought a 2% stake in November. Then we had the final year results showing a very encouraging performance in H2. And we heard that LFL sales are ahead with improved costs and improved margins.

In the AGM statement we then we heard how Richard Rose is delighted that trading has strengthened further still. And Mark Naughton Rumbo chooses the day of the AGM to buy his first shares.

Tells a pretty compelling story IMO.

In the next results, CRAW will also be reporting a net cash position for the first ever time. Yet the company trades at just a £2.5m Market cap - around tangible NAV. Paying a maiden dividend that's larger dividend than you'll get from any of the major supermarkets, one that's forecast to increase to 5.9% at the current share price for this financial year.

To get the full picture here, it's necessary to digest the balance sheet improvement over a number of years, some through equity raised at 17p per share, and some through positive cash generation. And work the calculations regarding the impact improving revenues will have on the bottom line.

Compare and contrast this to the long term chart. The shareprice has been decimated by Schroders selling down to (at one point) just 2p per share in an extremely thinly traded share.  The chart paints the picture. There's also been a pick up in volume of shares traded over the past few months.

All looking good IMO.

I reinvested my dividend early last month to demonstrate my continued support for the company. I believe patience & fortitude are the watchwords here and we'll all be well rewarded.
