These are the top five in the NFSC as at 30th November but with not much more than one week in trading days left before the competition closes it must be tight as MAR have fallen 20% as have MGHC whilst CRAW are up nearly 20% so far this month !
I do not have the exact starting prices but I suspect if CRAW can get to 18p and hold above that level then it could just steal it at the finishing line...

I liked this comment:

Ps I was pleased to hear from my son who has just completed his first term at Leeds Uni, that he was a regular at Crawshaws, where for £10 he walked away with enough meat to keep a hungry lad going for days.

Another great day for CRAW, twenty pence looks a not to distant possibility.
Davidosh are there not two shares in the NFSC that have 600 and 700% gains so no chance of beating them.

Kissing new highs today - a rather bullish chart imo.

It's my pick on the 100% thread (from around 3p) ... so hoping to be top performer there too. Very good buying volume today.

A "click to order" system on the website linking directly from the social media campaign would be fab. "Click here to find out more / order yours today!"

Thanks playful....to be honest I was thinking of more than just ordering hampers but that would certainly be important in readiness for next Christmas.

Davidosh, I feel certain they have/will develop a strategy and allocate dedicated resources to focus on communicating the company brand values to all their customers across all social media platforms.

This is the first year they have been actively promoting themselves on social media and they have gone from running a weekly hamper competition to announcing a daily competition, so you have to think the hamper sales are significantly up on last year which can be directly attributed to the FB campaign.

I too hope we see an online hamper ordering option made available on the company website.

Nice move upwards today. I really would like CRAW to finish top in the TMF NFSC share competition for 2013 and it must be very close if the share price can get to 17p and stay above that level I think.

playful...Do you know if they have a really good online strategy and know how to seriously benefit from all these followers and connections ?

I would still like to see an online ordering trial in an area close to but not competing with an existing store where regular deliveries of £30 plus orders could be done via a purpose created and promoted liveried van. Crawshaws will surely have a strong enough name in the region to increase sales significantly to those who cannot get out to a store or are time poor and like the delivery to your door idea and are prepared to pay for it if necessary?

Free Capital is an excellent read and a good Christmas gift if you cannot stretch to a Crawshaw hamper or your friend is vegetarian lol

I am glad to hear this and I'm sure you are going to be pleasantly pleased with their future performance in comparison to most other companies you might hold.

Worth a read as you might recognise some of the characters...

Yes playful, while i have taken some more profits the core of my holding is intact and as long as they are paying a handsome dividend i'll still be holding. I don't have the time to post as much at the minute as i'm doing a little voluntary work a few days each week.

I suspect we are currently trading well ahead of management expectations and going into the Christmas period things can only get better.

Just think for a minute about their completely new sandwich range and what it might actually cost them to make a meaty sandwich in comparison to Greggs? This is why we are going to see margins improve substantially in my opinion and no doubt we will see them throwing off increasing amounts of cash for investors in the coming years ahead.

AdamB1978....Firstly from the Mello presentation I can tell you that Richard Rose said they will be opening larger stores than the average currently and that he expected them to turnover considerably more due to that scale and carefully selected prime locations so I think £24k per week is very achievable. Apparently stores when they first open do even more than the average anyway because of the curiosity value from some customers trying them out and wanting to sample everything on offer before they become regular customers which I think makes sense.

I also suspect that if the first two openings go well and are delivering according to expectation then they will increase the number of openings in line with the cash generated as they do not want debt but the other option if they want to speed up that plan would be another fundraising via equity and the increasing strength of the share price can no doubt help with that in a year or so if needed to boost development and expansion. It all depends on the business continuing to be successful and generating cash. With the excellent 2013 like for like figures that would be a slam dunk if the new stores deliver in the same way.

Just stumbled across these and going through the numbers to see whether there's any value left in them for those who didn't join the party earlier.

I saw that in post 2328 there was a mention of £24k per week turnover for a new store - is that really believeable / achieveable given that at the moment it looks like they'll turning over perhaps £1m per store per year? Seems that £20k per week might be do-able once it gets up to run-rate profitability.

Also, the 5 year pay back for a new store (repaying the 500k opening costs mentioned in the same post) implies 100k additional EBITDA per year on average over 5 years so perhaps minimal in year 1, moving up towards 50k - 100k in year 2 etc, 100k or just over in year 3 etc. So if they open 2 stores in FY15, then those two might add say 150k EBITDA total in FY16, so about 10% uplift to current EBITDA. Obviously a helpful uplift but not particularly that exciting on its own. Can then lift sales/profitability of existing stores materially?

Never could have dreamed when i entered Crawshaw into the competition we would hit the dizzy heights of 5th place, could even be worth a top twenty in 2014.

Wonderful news...

The chancellor will bid to boost firms and High Streets by capping increases in business rates in Thursday's Autumn Statement, the BBC has learned.

George Osborne will announce that rate rises will be limited to 2% in England and Wales next year instead of being linked to inflation.

Not just the volume but the strength of the buying and the 8% uplift. Still very good value here if you see where the business should be in two or three years time with just half the level of organic growth they have had in the last six months plus about six further stores by then.
