Garbetklb...excellent information on the store visit and it would be great to add that personal story to the Pub write up following Richard Rose visit to our Mello and the presentation here....

Incidentally I am very keen for a video to be created of the inside of a typical Crawshaw store as it does need better understanding as there is nothing similar in the South.

Very interesting to hear other fellow investors stories drsmessguide. I see we also share some holdings.

You certainly have some good ones IMO. I hold 70% of those. Why not attend one of our Mello events where you get a chance to meet some of those companies and their long term investors ?

I do a fair bit of research but my edge is networking and sharing research and information with some of the best investor minds around. They look at the same company from different angles and some with an accountancy rather than just entrepreneurial hat on. I speak to management in all the companies and ask awkward questions where necessary. If you are at an Agm when I am there you will soon have a good idea who is in the room. Waffle answers will get nowhere with me.

There is absolutely no doubt that CRAW is up with the best in my portfolio and Richard Rose has to be the top performing chairman of the last three years if not longer. Booker, Anpario and Crawshaw have all multibagged.

I started investing in 2000! A very bad time, made all of the usual mistakes and came out of the market for some years. I came into some money last year and started investing again, 3 years late, I feel this bull market has legs for a while given the early stage of recovery and am reassured by your approach as i tended previously to panic sell having lost a lot of cash, again typical of an inexperienced investor. I am mainly invested in small and microcaps so will have the same issues with rapid exits and plan to grit my teeth when the time comes. I have never been very succesful at shorting and so would hedge a little reluctantly without experienced guidance. I have 25% of my portfolio in Craw due to its rapid advance, I am reluctant to topslice but must at some point. I too like IND, which I see as having a good product in the right place and time, just hope managment can follow it though. I have some understanding of the NHS having worked as a doctor for 25 years, NICE guidance tends to be adopted slowly but steadily, particularly when savings result. I like AEO which seems to have turned since Mike Hale arrived and took 20%, hes ex Y and R and Saatchi and seems to be mapping a niche out, good results this week. Bought some SNTY based on rapid growth but some risk given revenue thus far but expect given director buying to hear good news soon. Also JLH, ESS, ZYT, SEE, MVI, sold some RGS and JDG recently after JDG looked a bit expensive, great co that it is and I did not like the share action of RGS. Liek the look of ABLX on the belgian market, think it has a massive future but range bound at present, if it breaks above E8 I will buy some back, one for the future I would say with my medical hat on, very exciting technology with 5 major pharmas involved. thanks for your input. Whenever i research something you have invested in it tends to be a little, often unnoticed gem, like IDM

Davidosh

Just a question about your long term investing, were you out of the market in 2008 based on valuation prior to the plummet or did you grit your teeth and sit it out in the knowledge the small caps would come back strongly?
thanks in anticipation

Fingers on his thread, always talked of levels 25p, 50p and then sub levels in between 37.5p, anyway he identified that the move from 25p to 37.5p after a breakout from 25p resistance was often very rapid.

I look at situations and often think back to that and do so here, although thinking why didn't I.....DOH!

Good luck all,

Trout.

Just imagining how wealthy I'd be had I held on to all my shares :) well done those that have ... but I'd never had stuck being 100% invested in CRAW through a 13x rise.

Lynda must be happy :)
