I decided to fill my fridge today with Chicken from our Bramley store and was over the moon with the new staff and together with shop changes the shopping experience has greatly improved.

The sandwich counter has a wonderful window display and a new manager (full of enthusiasm) tells me they are really selling well and not only lunchtime but throughout the day especially breakfast.

Having noticed the share price fall this morning before visiting the shop I came away from the store without any concerns, if anything I am more confident we are going to see rapid growth in the coming years ahead.

David,

I have visited the new market shop in Sheffield. The market building is recently opened and appears very popular with decent footfall when I visited at a midweek lunchtime. There is lots of competition with 10-12 butchers present in the building but I was struck by large queues at the Crawshaw counter whilst some adjacent butchers had virtually no customers at all.
Crawshaw appeared to be specialising in good value mix and match prepack offers (i.e.3 packs for £10) rather than your more traditional butchers display but it certainly seemed popular with the punters when I visited.
If anyone requires any further in-store info i'm happy to revisit the shop though i'm not too sure they'd be happy with me videoing the visit.

As so many of the new investors are based in the south and even northerners like me have never been in one of the stores I really think it would be useful to have video footage of one of the stores to see the exact scale of the operation and what exactly is being sold ? I think many see 'butchers' and 'shop' and just relate to their local butcher for a reference point.

I will ask Richard if something can be done and uploaded to the website ?

Thanks BB2, It's always good to see them get a mention.

The new store is due to open next month but not sure on the precise date, but once its open I will be going down to visit and taking some pictures which I'll post on here for everyone to see.

When does the new store in Sheffield open btw ? Must be very soon..

It is the last day of the financial year today so a new store opening right at the start of the year will be great for clean revenue growth

Small mention in shares mag today in the small cap section today under the title meaty momentum. J.C. Writes sales margins and a growing loyal customer base and new store openings make a powerful catalyst.

We are actively recruiting new staff throughout the group to support our new sandwich range at the moment ... Greggs will not know what hit them

That's fair enough but I would suggest talking with David as he can probably place any future amounts very easily and you'll get a better price too.

Playful to be honest I have sold a few, I'm still as i have always been a great supporter of the company but as you know I've taken some positions in other shares like GCO today but i still intend keeping a sizeable amount.

It's getting a regular habit someone selling chunky amounts on the close, but come results day they'll kick themselves...

That was a lovely post from David on MF which has already attracted 19 recommendations.

We have more good news - Barnsley Council has set out town centre regeneration plans which will see investment valued at £41million and this is going to include the indoor market where we have two shops.

Good management so important. Find the right team early and stick to it...I did it with LOQ & JDG now CRAW delivers. ...

A very strange dip today so I am afraid I was compelled to take advantage and pick up the remaining number I required to get to just under 3% by a mere handful. Should I cross the line and keep Stuart company on the notifiable shareholder list ? That is the question.

Crawshaws and John Lewis of Hungerford (JLH)are my two favourite retailers at present and they are competing with each other on which comes up with the best like for likes. That 21% announced while I was away in the Philippines was exceptionally good but of course this mild weather probably set against weak comparatives with the snow on the ground last year should see a strong finish to the year end IMO so CRAW must be ahead still....the improving economy will help JLH with all the housing market in recovery now too.

We have a presentation scheduled for next Monday with John Lewis at their flagship Fulham store at 4pm if any of you guys are interested.

Somebody posted this yesterday on the iii board:

im a crawshaw customer as well as a shareholder.

their gainsborough shop is packed most of the time, and monday night they had sold out of most of their value packs of meats.

i buy my family's meat for the week from them for £10, its good value and choice, during lunch hour their are queues out of the shop for bacon butties etc, i know a lot of my employees buy from them also, 2 x chickens for £5-bargain

i took my eldest lad to doncaster at the weekend for the game store and their frenchgate shop was really busy and that was about 4pm, i was sat opposite it having a coffee.

i noted that the shops were not overstaffed so they have a hand on costs aswell

if they can replicate this in other new locations and keep a hand on the costs, this is going to be a winner,

jojo
