...Well except for this nasty sharp metal thing that keeps falling point-first into my hand every time I buy what I thought was a dip.
PS (I'm typing this with one of the few fingers I have left)

Nice quiet thread here and I agree with sentiments above. A lot of stock in the hands of the employees and directors so not much liquidity which perhaps accounts for large swings in the share price Need to buy whilst you can in the dips. I cannot see any problems holding this one.

Market makers will move things up and down 'til someone buy or sells.
Guess thats what makes a market.

Edmund,

Yep still here, probably should of sold ages ago but I think this has long term value, with all the global economy groiwing and the world becoming a smaller place and all that.

Looks like we are attracting the buyers again.

Good luck mate and nice to hear from you again.

This is a favourite of mine, and seems to fulfill a lot of Buffet's criteria with good return on investment figures etc. It is very cyclical and has reached an important support level dating back nearly 2 years, and it's a long time since I've seen a stock reach such oversold levels on Williams %R/MACD/WMA indicators. As such it's the only stock I've been buying for the ISAs I control, the rest being in cash awaiting a long-expected retracement. Of course perhaps folk know of some skeletons in the cupboard, but there really hasn't been any heavy volume of selling to accompany this fall from 1050p.

My view is that about now is the time to get on board. Whether there's a bit more southerly in her or not I dont know, but what I am fairly sure about is that she will be steaming north nearer to results (end Mar 07) and having been caught too often with a goodun like this turning around when I wasn't on watch I will be looking to accumulate from now on. I picked up a further 300 in after hours trade today at 761. The further she drops the better I like it. There is still a hugely growing seafreight tonnage out there and this company knows best how to grab a big chunk of it. If world trade was not increasing why would the Panama canal need widening.

Hi Cambium. Still here?

I sold out of CKN just below 900p in January; things have ended up somewhat how I expected, but I missed a nice high; never mind, I did just as well elsewhere. I originally got in too early at 195p and now I exited too early (second time).

This is beginning to look good value on A PER of under 10; yield looking like about 4%. With the BDI and container rates etc looking good, earnings in H2 should beat H1 by a fair bit.

Still unsure about timing though. I like bargains! I shall watch this a bit longer I think...

Hi I Think I bought a bit too early. It is certainly volatile! I am hoping to see a double bottom soon.
Off the subject; I am intrigued by Jeff Woyda's appointment. He has a unusual background for a finance director apart from accountancy. He was cofounder of GNI Touch, an online electronic trading platform, C.O.O. of a software development company Membertrack and latterly Immersive Education involving Oxford University and Intel producing educative computer games. I wonder what will be running on his office PC when no ones looking....

I was in these a while back and may start sniffing around again as they look good value to me.

I am a bit concerned about the extra shipping capacity coming onstream shortly. Bound to reduce the cargo rates.

Looks like I may need to take a closer look. Need to see how the acquisition is taken by the company.

And most of that nice cash pile has gone to bonus payments. I'm sure who ever got it deserved it, but now it's gone and not to the investors. Was looking good until interims came out.

really peab1?

from what I can see it is on a forward P/E of over 10, which
is historically pricey for this share (assuming it makes
the analysts predictions) - and a price to book ratio of 2.9

neither of which count as particularly 'value' attractive.

Divi-yield is nice, but that's about it from what I can see.

But I am sure I am missing something....

Ridiculous on its valuation grounds however. Very undervalued.

It does indeed go XD.

Good news today about another purchase. Bought on the dip. May go lower but CKN is a building up a good head of steam for the future.
