13/3/2006 14:35 | My first quick look at this, attracted by the cracking trianlge simlilar to the one EEN broke out of recently. Could be a pretty quick 200 points in the bag when this breaks (assuming its a upward break!) | andyh78
13/3/2006 14:23 | any comment on recent dip from holders. is it worth waiting for a retest of 800p to buy? | its the oxman
16/2/2006 11:55 | This has and always will trade at a discount to BMS. I prefer this and have held for over 3 years now. Lets hope we see some more with demand in China holding up and LNG looking to be big (just look at HMY) | cambium
16/2/2006 10:03 | Sorry guys, this co was bought to my attention by a friend and I haven't had a chance to take a proper look yet.... I would've thought that revenues for a diversified shipping services company would have a closer positive correlation with the number of ships in service, than actual shipping rates. Have I missed the point? Can anyone explain how number of ships and shipping rates impacts CKN revenue and profit? Thanks. | wonder boy
10/2/2006 14:22 | Good call CR, was hoping for 800-820 entry, looks like I've missed out. BDI finally picked up as well. | taylor20
17/1/2006 19:33 | Shipping rates may fall again By SAIJEL KISHAN in London January 17 2006 SHIPPING rates will probably fall for a second straight year as the fleet of coal and iron-ore vessels grows faster than the world's demand for commodities. ... "The party may be over, but shipowners are still in for a good time this year, as rates stay above historical averages, said Aarti Gupta, an analyst at Drewry Shipping in New Delhi. | grigor
04/1/2006 16:08 | Looks like the market likes the new acquisition, as strength in the share-price coincided with the RNS about the confirmed completion of the deal. The price has been holding up well and hopefully will continue throughout 2006. | lauders
22/12/2005 15:00 | I'm amazed CKN's price has held up as well as it has. The BDI is way down to 2,439 and is way, way down on the same period last year and in H1, VLCC rates have turned down sharply, and then there's the CFF news above. The large part of CKN's profits reliant on broking must be taking a big hit, and I can't see any way they're going to meet this year's forecast, notwithstanidng the forecast EPS reduction for 2006. The outer must be bid interest, but that's not enough for me. CKN is a good company, but it's swimming against the tide at present, so I won't be buying in. Good luck to holders though as I want CKN to do well. | rivaldo

07/12/2005 16:22 | Interesting link Andrbea. You never know the people might like the product enough Dubai it. I don't hold any at present and have not been successful when I have held which is down to me but I do like the company and perhaps...... | hawks11
01/12/2005 22:24 | I bought back in for the first time a few weeks ago around 800p, since selling out in March/April earlier this year. Things are starting to look interesting again... | lafiamma

18/11/2005 10:09 | Starting December 1, the conference will implement a rate restoration in the Westbound to UK, North Continent, Scandinavian, Baltic and Mediterranean Ports. For a forty-foot equivalent unit (FEU) the increase is $300. The increased rate levels will be valid until January 31, 2006, says a notice issued by the Karmahom Conference, which describes the increase as "Westbound Rate Restoration." Freight rates to the UK hover between $900 and $1,050 a TEU and to other west European ports it would be slightly higher, said an industry source. The Karmahom Conference said that its member lines were facing considerable increase in charter rates, which continue to rise dramatically, as well as a worldwide shortage of container equipment (boxes). Further, delays and congestion continue to affect all carriers, and are having a detrimental effect on member lines' ability to operate efficiently." | andrbea

14/11/2005 10:31 | the vlcc graph looks strong (dd 10.11.05) CRUDE Tanker newsletter "For the first time this year the WS200 mark has been crossed for a voyage to Singapore (WS205) ! With as many as 35 cargoes reported fixed within the last 4 days from the Middle East Gulf, VLCC rates have logically progressed by some 25 points at WS145 for a voyage to the West and 45 points at WS180 to eastern destinations. At those levels, daily return for the owners is getting close to US$125,000 for Singapore, US$107,000 for Ulsan and US$115,000 for Le Havre on a round trip basis from Ras Tanura. It is interesting to see that some of the big oil companies, anticipating a further rise, are taking forward their position on dates which are still to be confirmed by suppliers. This move is probably right, looking at the tonnage availability listed for December in this area. A dozen VLCCs were reported to be fixed so far this week in West Africa. With a tonnage list still thin, the market has continued to improve, fetching WS185 for voyages to US Gulf which equals to about US$115,000 per day" | andrbea
09/11/2005 13:23 | same article, different source "We had one of our vessels waiting as long as 12 days to unload ore in the Shanghai area and seven days in Qingdao," said Benoit Timmermans, CEO of Bocimar, the dry-bulk unit of Compagnie Maritime de Belge SA in Antwerp, Belgium. Delays "push up the freight rates." | andrbea
