The quip made by Sheikh Yamani, the Saudi oil minister in the 1970s, looks prophetic: “the stone age didn’t end for lack of stone and the oil age will end long before the world runs out of oil”.
An extract from a Moneyweek article talking about cheaper renewable energy's effect on the world's economies when oil producers no longer control energy supply, just scroll down to read after the intro. Seems like more copper demand looking into the future.

I expect after 2022 and no targets identified, they will keep a healthy dividend and build a war chest. An opportunity will present itself in the coming years. They could even take smallish stakes in a couple of promising explorers with very little initial outlay

Interesting comments about potential acquisitions by the CEO in that YouTube presentation, about the difficulty of finding an acquisition target on the right terms in these times of higher copper prices. I get the impression that they wouldn't overpay, which is reassuring.

When asked what CAML would do with their surplus cash if they haven't made a new acquisition by 2022 (when they will have paid off their debts) he said he wasn't a great fan of special dividends, nor of share buybacks.

I agree with him about share buybacks...too often they are made at temporary high share prices. So I wonder what will happen if we do get to 2022 without a new acquisition?
