That's because we should be looking at 8p+ if the impact of the news sinks in with the investors and market makers. The market makers don't want to get caught out, imo

Very short on stock still, with only one market maker left on 3p offer now.

Price should go crazy if they make the announcement?

You would imagine that we 'should' get an announcement tomorrow...

But who can say for sure?

It will probably take them a little while to go through the ofcom documents in detail

Yes, would be nice to see the price finally get to a more sensible level, lyonst5

Wow great news, We could do with an official rns, just to let the rest of world know as well.
So now we know the reason why there was a lack of shares on the offer, but
managed to get 250k more over the past week or so by hook or crook.
So here's to the future, and i hope any long term holders get to see some upside at long, long last.

I don't know about £2m profit and a PE of 12x (a share price of 32p) - I think they need to publish some progressive numbers in the accounts before getting into that sort of territory

I'm thinking more that a £1m profit and a PE of 6x should be achievable, which would see the share price move up to 8p

hello,
Just wondering where this info comes from? And if it is correct why there has been no RNS on it? Thanks

Congratulations everyone!

So in one fell swoop the business has gone from being 'risky' to being a cash cow. Are we thinking that with the free channels they have, they will in time, be getting back to the £2m pa profits they used to get from the UK business? (if that's the correct figure)

If so, what sort of PE would we expect on that? 4x? 8x? 12x?

More comments on the digital spy forums, people already thinking about how the Cellcast channels will almost certainly be able to stay on Freeview with a few small changes:

"They (the slapper channel provders) may get round this by hiding behind an MHEG screen a-la TVX. I'm sure that creating an additional premium rate number to call to unlock the screen would be quite attractive to them.

Knowing how the NuLab quango regulators are oft happy to roll over in favour of big organisations instead of protecting the public/consumer interest (particularly if there are taxes to be had), then I can see a watered down version such as above happening."

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!

We have a solid business going into 2010!

The consultation period ends on January 15th, then there will be a long delay before coming up with a final decision (another year?), then after that the channels will have 6 months or so to bring it all into effect.

In the meantime, we can take all that freeview money and build the cash position. Also in the meantime, Freesat will grow and grow. Also in the meantime, new ways for the Freeview channels to comply with the regulation will be developed (just needs a simple way to segregate them from non-adult content)

rns coming?

So, it's great news for Cellcast in general, although the Freeview channels will be in doubt until the technology allows for the group of adult channels to be segregated and

Someones opinion on the digitalspy board:

"If you read the last part of the consultation you will understand. Ofcon reckons the channels need to be labelled as a group as well as being capable of being excluded from an EPG by user choice. They state that although there is a separate Freeview category from LCN93-99 for these channels, that alone would not meet the proposed new regulations. What is needed is a new EPG and/or platform that is capable of segregating channels. Not only that but a receiver base that supports it. Maybe a substantial penetration (ouch) of households owning such a device? Therefore slapper & psychic channels are unlikely to be on Freeview in the near future. I suspect the regulations were designed to achieve the cleaning up of Freeview, and were not made to protect the public whatever Ofcon says the reason was. It is too much of a fudge for me."

So, at first glance, this seems to be the best possible result that Cellcast could have hoped for.

- No encryption

- Classed as advertising, rather than editorial

- Changes in the advertising code to specifically allow the adult and psychic channels

Is this too good to be true, or is there a sting in the tail? These are quite long documents....

Basically, on first site they are saying that the adult and psychic channels can't be classed as editorial, but must be considered as advertising

So, they propose to changes to the advertising code, so that these channels can be allowed to stay

Cheers MrShort, useful to know that.

I only use my spread bet account once or twice a year, so not up to date with how they are now working. Interesting that they don't mention to phone them, just says 'this market is closed'
