17/5/2008 12:01 | yep...I`ve backed Ramsey before....he`s the man....he has the pedigree....he can do this. His change in strategy will turn the company around......we`ll all know in a couple of weeks time. His strategy with Nelson Resources was lots of smaller wells as opposed to `all the eggs in one basket`...(Lukeoil swooped on Nelson Resouces...and took them over).....I did OK. | htrocka
17/5/2008 11:26 | htrocka, it's certainly worth a punt at this level. Feeble balance sheet causing the distressed price, but if they strike oil at #703 it will multi-bag from here. | drewz
17/5/2008 08:35 | this company can`t be all bad....oil revenues increase by nearly 1000%...production up by 250%....price paid for a barrel up 280%....the company swings from a loss to profit....with the added statement from the CEO that the company`s production could at least double with `703`.(*).......and the share price drops nearly 150%.....it`s a funny old game. from the rns.. `Oil revenues before transportation costs for the (first) quarter were $3.44 million from $357,997 previously.` (*) Commenting on Baktygaryn #703, William Ramsay, CEO of Caspian said:(five days ago) "Baktygaryn #703 is the first of a number of opportunities we have identified in this area of the North Block. This well is particularly interesting because it is a dual target and therefore offers the opportunity for both Triassic and Upper Permian. Should we be successful in both targets, we believe we have the potential for highly significant recoverable reserves, relative to those we have already | htrocka
14/5/2008 09:45 | I haven't read the Q1 accounts in detail, but it seems to be good news that CEK have finally achieved a cash flow positive quarter, basically because the selling price of their oil has almost tripled. But I don't really understand why this is. World prices have gone up, but not that much. Is this a blip of some kind, or is $75 pb now the norm? (assuming that Brent stays over $100 pb). $75pb obviously transforms the finances of this company. They just couldn't make money at sub-$30 pb, which is what they've been getting. I agree that the chart looks very attractive and it's very tempting indeed to take up the 1 for 6 Rights and to apply for extra. But I'm going to wait until the final deadline (23/5) to do this, in the hope that we get some more news, either on a farm-in or the current well. If we get 2 or 3 bits of good news in a row, sentiment could change here and we could easily see the share price back at over $2 within a few weeks. | rupe1958
13/5/2008 22:37 | ...look at the Canadian Graph....it`s the first time the share price had risen to .35 CAD for months...a `double bottom` has just been completed....if it rises again tomorrow....expect a break-out....to about .38 CAD (20P....ish) | htrocka
13/5/2008 14:54 | Amazing how many downhole 'mechanical failures' this company has. Seems to happen on almost every hole. | drewz
13/5/2008 14:39 | *Baktygaryn #703, first post-salt well identified from the Baktygaryn 3-D survey, spuded in mid-March 2008 with a target total depth of approximately 2,500 metres. Currently the well has been sidetracked and is drilling ahead in the salt section of the well. The sidetrack hole was the result of a mechanical failure in the lower section of the drill string. The well is drilling at 1745 meters having passed the original hole on May 8th. The well is expected to reach total depth in the Upper Permian by the end of May. | drewz
07/5/2008 21:37 | six ordinary shares buys you one `Rights` share at 12.5p....two ``Rights` shares entitles you to one warrant........it`s all academical....this time it`s a simple case of boom....or bust...ps.Canada can`t decide which way to go... | htrocka
07/5/2008 16:25 | SelfTrade have made an error it should be CAD.25 not CAD.50 I have just spoken to Caspian. | beergut
07/5/2008 15:34 | Thanks, Drewz. I'm with Selftrade too and the notes have utterly confused me. I agree. Too complicated to bother with. | tinvan
07/5/2008 12:13 | All too complicated for me to get involved, being as it is essentially aimed at Canadian holders, can't be held or traded electronically etc. Also I've now had two lots of differing advice from Selftrade - now offering one Right to one share at CAD0.50 with one half of a warrant attached for one share exerciseable at CAD0.45 until 23 May 2011 or 20 days consecutive when price exceeds CAD0.75. Think I will pass and let the drill do the talking. I've put as much cash into CEK as I'm comfortable with. | drewz
07/5/2008 11:19 | I don't understand this rights issue. Can anyone explain please | tinvan
04/5/2008 10:13 | The rns never gave a specific start date.... but hopefully get news of 703 shortly? | htrocka
01/5/2008 17:52 | I see the rights shares are up 300% today.....bodes well. ... | htrocka
30/4/2008 05:43 | Up 20% in Canada last night lets hopr for alittle blue today | easson
29/4/2008 14:58 | The management of this company has gone into writing (email) to say there is no known reason for the recent sell off and drilling is progressing. If anyone doubts this i suggest they make contact for themselves. | cleo1601
29/4/2008 09:42 | 8 pence on the bid??? Lost 3 pence for a sale of 213 quid! I think I will just continue to watch this especially with a 5 pence spread, As I understand the drill is still in process - so no news yet anyway. | omellete
28/4/2008 22:28 | the graph is looking better....Canada likes it...I`ll wait for the golden cross, cheers. | htrocka
28/4/2008 19:51 | Totally in agreement with you there, Rupe. | drewz
28/4/2008 18:47 | Htrocka - My guess is that big, make-or-break news is going to come within the 21-day window of the Rights Issue. We are due two kinds of big news. (1)results from the Baktigarin 'shallow' well (a mere 2200m. I should think they are at 1500m+ by now) and (2) news of any kind of farm-in, probably from the multi-national neighbours who own licences around the North Block. Particularly Chinese neighbours, who put a high value on Kazakh oil. POsitive news on either front will send this up sharply, I think. And at that point we should take up the RIghts Issue. | rupe1958
28/4/2008 10:33 | A bit on the spec side all right at this stage... | unionhall
27/4/2008 22:05 | It seems a strange way to run a war.....if I was to institute a rights issue....I`d come out with some good news first, watch the price rise then screws the punters for the required cash who would no doubt be only too happy to oblige....... but not this way round?...unless of course there is no good news....News on 703 must come out before the 23rd of May....the last `take-up` date in the , now, ex-rights stock which will probably determine the fate of this company. The drilling theory, using 3D siesmic graph sounded very good and aiming for two target ranges within the same drill......I can`t see this failing....but it`s a funny old game and CEK have come up `dry` before....good luck to all holders. I`ll keep this on my `monitor` list. | htrocka
25/4/2008 17:35 | oh dear... oh dear....oh dear. The rights issue was for 12.5p a share.....you can now buy them on the open market (in Canada) for 10p a share...a new low ......with no news of well 307....that we should have had a report on about a week ago......no wonder the bottom`s dropped out of this share..oh dear ..oh dear.....if the rights issue fails...then this could end up as yet another Lukoil fire sale acquisition. oh dear, oh dear. ps... with reference to the above graph....is that a drawing of a cliff? | htrocka
24/4/2008 23:21 | 20% move on volume in Canada! But in the wrong direction aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa | drewz
23/4/2008 17:21 | The graph is indicating a rise in June. | htrocka |
