Scotland the sensible https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-57406705 How lucky the Caribbean islanders must feel about the cruise restart. All those lovely double jabbed coming to visit them when many haven’t even had one jab. It’s our right to take sickness overseas and bestow the gift of COVID on others isn’t it

Cruises might be a winner here. Cost advantage over hotels struggling to recruit staff etc etc and they can flaunt their COVID free status.

US Cruises resume on 4th July Norwegian Cruise and Carnival Cruise plan to resume sailings from US ports this summer, marking the return of cruise ships to the industry’s most profitable market for the first time since the pandemic began. Norwegian said on Monday that it will sail from New York, Los Angeles, Port Canaveral and Miami. Carnival Cruise intends to resume voyages from Port of Galveston, Texas in early July and that it planned to do so out of Miami in the same month.

0.5% yes just half a percent of UK hospital beds occupied by Covid patients yet mass hysteria and over reaction again. Portugal incidence rate at 50 cases per million is below the UK's (66) yet is moved to amber. Crazy.

Looking good all round now as long as there the virus doesn't have something even more unpleasant waiting to hit us with that will throw a spanner in the works. This makes an interesting read hxxps://nicholaswade.medium.com/origin-of-covid-following-the-clues-6f03564c038 Origin of Covid — Following the Clues Did people or nature open Pandora’s box at Wuhan? Nicholas Wade Nicholas Wade May 3ยท44 min read The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted lives the world over for more than a year. Its death toll will soon reach three million people. Yet the origin of pandemic remains uncertain: the political agendas of governments and scientists have generated thick clouds of obfuscation, which the mainstream press seems helpless to dispel.

Carnival will recover in my opinion people still want to cruise and will continue to. Vaccines work and I'm confident they will improve them so cruising wont be effected in the long term.

CDC in US have delivered a verdict stating Cruising is LESS risky than other forms of travel...Based on idea that is a contained unit and after checks have been made less outside influence than with other forms. Trials approved

Loss in Q1 was actually around $1Bn if you take out the $500M for depreciation. With cruises resuming in Europe and US shortly they should be able to at least break even in Q3?

Real world evidence - vaccines work against Indian variant also The Pfizer vaccine was found to be 88% effective at stopping symptomatic disease from the Indian variant two weeks after the second dose, compared with 93% effectiveness against the Kent variant. The AstraZeneca jab was 60% effective against the Indian variant, compared with 66% against the Kent variant. Cases plummeting in US and Europe
