21/1/2021 10:03 | So covid vaccine needed and to start in MAY / JUNE. So looks like full steam ahead. | onehanded
20/1/2021 00:56 | Another cash call coming... | daybreakers
19/1/2021 19:55 | I am in too as a recovery trade and will add on dips. | daybreakers
19/1/2021 17:19 | Big improvement in case count across Europe and UK (has almost halved from the high of 62K to 33K now). Lockdown impact but also vaccinations starting to have a positive effect; half of over 80's in UK have had at least one dose. | justiceforthemany
19/1/2021 14:46 | i've been buying since £10.20 as this will really fly in the summer onwards, have the first target £15 then £24 by the end of the year. | onehanded
19/1/2021 14:30 | Surge in bookings bookings for 2021 and next year, travel industry is quoted saying. | viking24
15/1/2021 17:56 | ''They should be vaccinating the wealth creators and working demographic first''. As one of the older generation, i totally agree. Dislike your ''selfish filth of the Earth'' comment, it could equally be applied to the younger population who are not prepared to wear a mask and are willing spreaders of the virus. | flyfisher
15/1/2021 16:31 | My biggest fear of cruising would be being sat next to Minerve at the Captains table. | ohojim
15/1/2021 16:06 | UK cut corners and continue to do so. They are hell bent on trying to prove the theory that Brexit failure is a success. They will lie and deceive their ignorant followers but Remainers have got the measure of Boris Johnson and his stooges. | minerve 2
15/1/2021 16:00 | maybe, but UK have very cleverly cornered a lot of the first batch in millions of the vaccines. EU can't get enough for all it's members. Means that with March 3rd vaccine booked to be delivered and those with antibodies from infection 5 months back, 40% will have immunity by May. | onehanded
15/1/2021 15:58 | I still think my voluntary euthanasia idea is valid. Ideally at full speed on the roller toaster! | ohojim
15/1/2021 15:56 | Vaccinating the older generation was a big mistake. They should be vaccinating the wealth creators and working demographic first. Like other, more sensible, countries are doing. | minerve 2
15/1/2021 15:52 | see some ships on the move, getting ready? summer booking as they say full. Older generation going to go for it as all will be vaccinated by May. £25 target this year. | onehanded
14/1/2021 15:58 | The over 65's will be vaccinated by mid Feb here in the UK and US will not be far behind. This age group is the target Cruising demographic. | justiceforthemany
14/1/2021 15:19 | Big news with holiday bookings on BBC news today. Boss of TUI was interviewed and confirmed the same. the 50+ age group emboldened by the prospect of a jab are in the middle of holiday booking frenzy apparently. And this is the age group that have money and are most financially immune to the pandemic The baby boomer generation want to get out there and live! | undervaluedassets
14/1/2021 14:53 | Those cruise booking being ahead is very positive for 2022. I may even take a cruise myself one day ! | smurfy2001
13/1/2021 15:12 | No, pierre, sensible finance if you are just catching the cruise and have had the water taxi experience many times before. We had four days in Venice beforehand so we flew to Marco Polo and got the water taxi to and from the hotel. :) | minerve 2
13/1/2021 15:08 | Been on several cruises from Venice - just the sailaway from there is worth the total cruise cost. Or used to be anyway. Easier for us to cruise from Venice than Southampton. Always got the fast bus from the airport into Venice then a 15 minute walk from there to the ship. Add 5 mins from the train station. Twelve euros for 2 compared to probably a couple of hundred for a private water taxi. And we get some exercise. Not sure where they'll be sailing from next, but probably several miles from the centre of Venice. That won't be just a few euros on a water taxi. (and Minnie, i'll assume you think I'm a cheapskate, so no reason to post that). | pierre oreilly
13/1/2021 14:27 | ohojim I'm fortunate to have done many cruises. Probably getting on for 30, most of them 14 day or more. In my experience of the industry the larger ships have just changed itinerarys of the cruise or have 'forced' investment into the ports to cater for the new ships because most of the destinations are dependant on the tourism the ships bring. You also find that if port authorities/local government increase port fees too much the ships just increase days at sea which are very profitable days. Just to give you an example, Disney used to visit Key West regularly on its cruisings from Port Canaveral with Disney Magic and Disney Wonder but the larger ships (Fantasy & Dream) required deeper water to manage the ship's draught, nothing changed and so Key West is no longer on the intinerary. It hasn't affected the attraction of the cruises whatsoever. I have also sailed from Venice on one of the last cruisings of the large ships. You already were getting water taxis to get to the cruise port so an extra distance on a small water taxi is no problem, and being Venice, great fun. | minerve 2
12/1/2021 17:14 | If the vaccine proves to be a success and Carnival have a very strong 2022 with this slime-line new look company then surely we can expect a multi bagger by say 2024?? | 0rient
12/1/2021 15:59 | If any of you gamblers out there want to make $5000, you can help solve this shocking crime.... | ohojim
12/1/2021 12:27 | Well, I have done some further research and it turns out that I am a very misleading person. Carnival's actual profit margins were averagely 15.72% for 2016-2019. But needless to say, 2020 loss gobbled up the sum of all of those years profits. I don't see the future as glowingly as the past, given that they will forever have to have enhanced health checks and security. Also, they are not as welcome at their destinations as previously. For example, they will never again be able to look into Luigi's windows in Venice, as they have to park up miles away now. As the ships get bigger and dwarf their destinations, they will increasingly be kept at a distance. | ohojim
11/1/2021 22:59 | Ohojim. Thanks for your post and insight. I must say though that your downward chart pattern is slightly misleading as it would imply a longer term downtrend. Though CCL reached its recent peak in Aug 2017 this followed a more than two fold increase in the share price from 2014. I take your point though that the downtrend has lasted since that point and is certainly worth noting. | xamf
11/1/2021 22:28 | The UK and USA's cruising population (over 50's) should have been vaccinated by the Spring - April. They account for >90% of all Covid deaths. In 3 months we will hopefully see just 10% of the current admissions, cases and deaths. Improving weather will only help further. | justiceforthemany |
