CDC Says Cruises Possible by Mid-Summer as Tensions Boil Over
U.S. cruises could resume by mid-summer with restrictions, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday after Carnival Corp., the largest operator, threatened to relocate ships to other markets.

The agency’s signal sent shares of cruise companies rising in after-market trading, with Carnival gaining as much as 4.9%. Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. also advanced.

The industry has been pressuring the agency, saying it is restricting their return to the seas even as other hospitality industries like hotels and theme parks reopen. Earlier Tuesday, Carnival threatened to move some U.S. ships to other ports, more than a year after the industry essentially went on hiatus over the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cruise lines welcomed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's new guidance that Americans who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can travel 'at low risk to themselves' in the US and abroad.

'Hopefully their next step will be to say if you are vaccinated you can go on a cruise operating [from] the US,' Mark Conroy, managing director, the Americas, Silversea Cruises, told Seatrade Cruise News.

'We are hoping more countries will agree to the same,' Conroy said.

A huge 3.4 Million vaccinated in the past 24hrs. At this rate over 100 million vaccinations a month which is 40% of the entire US adult population. 37% adults have already had at least one dose so we should be near 80% in 4 weeks. Herd immunity levels. Situation could be very different come late April/May as Summer starts and temperatures soar.

As an avid client of p&o for 20 years, we were on the last boat home in April last year, we were promised a cruise credit ect which turned up last August ish, been sending them e mails for months plus numerous phone calls since, today looks like it might be settled, the cheque is in the post, its been a shambles, we could have left the credit there but in this uncertain world i,ve gone for the cash. The share price looks ahead of itself, but we have booked for may 2022.

The recovery of this share will come from what happens in the US market. It’s by far the largest section of their business. What people also need to factor in is where these cruises take place (Caribbean / Med) need the revenue so think if 3000 vaccinated people turn up will be happy for the tourism. Their economies are so heavily reliant on tourism that it has to happen. It all comes down to 2 factors - the CDC and the nonsense in Europe (which has little to do with public health - rather more Brexit hangovers)

15C and great warm sunshine across most of the UK today
20C across most of Europe.
People need to look ahead to the future not behind - in just a months time we will be in May, in 2 months June & in the thick of Wimbledon and the Euros
Every UK and US adult will have been vaccinated
Sentiment will change - holidays and cruises will resume

Markets are forward thinking so for a long term hold I'll be buying back before second half 2021. The debt will impact future profits, it will recover to the £30 level but slowly in 5 years, we won't see £5 again but £10 is a possibility.

just sold from my buys below £10, reason is most EU countries will not allow any passengers off at any ports / designations this year, worldwide nobody wants 1,000 to 3,000 passenger in the country even if vaccinated in one small port / area. Also all those who cancelled over the last 12 months have already payed up and had 25% extra added to the onboard account to spend and ships will work on maximum 60% capacity. So will be difficult to make money in the next 12 - 24 months. Also, it has seen a massive share dilution over the last 8 months, so can see £18 as the top price for a while. Later in 2022 this could be a buy. Only my thoughts.... There will be a big demand for cruising going forward but won't be as much as a cash cow as before. Feel my money can be put elsewhere for more return at this share price

Watch out for Deepverge DVRG for onboard sewer covid monitoring in cruise liners floor levels and also the 4 second covid breath test to tell if passengers are covid positive with 100% sensitive for both in those with or without covid signs.
