US new cases 40,000. Peak was 300,000+
Deaths 700. Peak 4,000+
Big fall.

UK new cases 4,700 and deaths just 65.
A 6 month low.

Can not justify these lockdowns with such figures when 20x this number are dying daily from non Covid diseases that have been wrongly forgotten like stroke, heart attack, asthma, COPD, heart failure and Cancer.

What would you rather have?
No perspective whatsoever.

Anyone have a handle on what happened here on FridaY?

(And with all travel stocks for that matter...).

not sure that I fully understood what happened.

It's not as simple as just allowing only vaccinated people on board and then carry on as normal. That's the absolute minimum requirement to lower the chances of an outbreak. There'll be temperature checking getting on and off and I expect going to the restaurants, theatre etc. They are protecting my investment and people's health by doing so. It's not a case of worrying about an outbreak, it's just taking sensible precautions to lower the chance of one and quickly isolating anyone showing any symptoms. Just because everyone will have had one or two jabs doesn't mean no one will catch or spread it.

Why worry regarding an outbreak if people are vaccinated. If that's a problem waste of time being vaccinated.

You're forgetting the benefit of rapid testing kits with results within 30 minutes - if there was an outbreak that is. There would obviously be full testing pre boarding and hopefully most would have already been vaccinated or in the case of SAGA for example only the vaccinated would be allowed on board in which case risk would be minimal.

What exactly do you disagree with? They've already said they'll sail at max 50% capacity so it can't be that. When Cunard day ' fully booked' it means all beds for sale have been taken, but only 50% of them max are for sale. That is more for ccls benefit. A covid outbreak on a ship would more or less sink them, and less people means less chance of an outbreak. The cruising experience won't get back to as it was for several years imv. Eating at tables for 2 for example..... we like tables of 8 to meet other people, so that's a big hit for us. Even with all the restrictions I'll be booking as soon as insurance allows.

Even better.
88 Million Americans already have had at least one vaccination.
Let's say 3M a day is average for March = 90M vaccinations

So 180M/55% popn by end of March
15-20% have already had Covid/antibodies
55+20 = 75%
This level is more than enough for herd immunity

Come end of April we could be looking at 80% having been vaccinated with at least one dose = 80% US population, almost the entire adult population

I see New York is hitting 18C this week and Sunny - this will only help also.

Oral treatments on the way - even better!
1/3rd UK and US populations now vaccinated. 15-20% have natural immunity.
US on track for 2 Million vaccinations a day; 60M a month
Herd immunity come April?

Disagree with the below, all of my relatives over 60s have booked cruises, some more than one, they are fed up and view the risk as worth it. The ships will be fully booked as far as they can be.

Full to capacity? Not for a while yet. Once they restart sailing it will be at 33% to 50% capacity, social distancing and all that. They really really really don't want another hint of covid on a boat again, at least for a few years when it'll be treated the same as flu or norovirus or salmolnella none of which cause any real issues.Round the UK cruise sounds great to me, not least because we'll be able to book without covid insurance (ours doesn't cover covid ATM). Not sure about wearing a facemask though, detracts massively from the experience. We've still got some future cruise deposits to use with Cunard, they extended their validity for a year after a phone call, looks like they may have to extend them for another. Also got some future cruise credits for p and o... Can't wait to get back on board. I think I've read they are also considering non landing cruising - looks sensible and lowest covid risk for CCL.

I took a punt on this company Friday last thing. Because US getting twitching from the bond market As for small trip around UK I think it will work as UK Hotel etc will be really full to capacity.. As to this company not making money go on the booking on Singapore /China only a few cabins left Israel will be the sameI say buy the dips and be prepared for high volitility. Or rough waters

Just had a look at this as a recovery play. Positives: low share price considering economy due to reopen with the vaccination program proceeding well. Negative: high debt level especially if interest rates rise. Comments welcome. What's behind that sudden drop on Friday afternoon which seemed to exceed the general market decline?

Looks like the US market dived early part of the day which effects carnival UK I expect 5 to 6 % bounce Monday as US bounced back into close. I can see Israel and Singapore Australia ramping up soon???
