17/9/2009 08:27 | I think it is someone building up a stake in this. The buyer comes in in the morning with a set price on high volume. The market does not have to declare it util the close. Looks like 38.25 is the offer they have made and weak holders are falling in to their trap. MNR doing well so our support has gone over to the opposition. That's what i think. | hungry wolf
17/9/2009 08:06 | Thanks Typo. | bigbigdave
17/9/2009 07:50 | anyone noticed the share price been driven down, even though theres more buys than sells, soon as even a small sell orders goes through, price goes down but when large buy order goes through price doesnt go up that much. any idea why would mm do that for? | m1tu
17/9/2009 07:32 | I don't know how much effect it will have but the placing & open offer shares get included by FTSE on Monday. The shares in issue increases to 350.6m from about 71.3m (I think). I assume that means that SmallCap and All-Share tracker funds will be buying. I wonder if this will cause a rise towards the end of this week. I've sometimes noticed an effect. | typo56
16/9/2009 16:53 | Guys My reading of the current situation is that we have good two way business but with a seller instigating the business and buyers responding hence the downward drift. Once this has run its course then a more normal trading pattern will emerge influenced by fundamentals. If, as I believe, this will be a recovery in the property market and improving investor sentiment towards the sector then the environment for CAL will be positive and the stock can continue to rise. | dk37
16/9/2009 16:45 | looks like half of South Africaa in coming on board. lets hope their client base is worth something. Becoming confused as to wether this is a gold mining company or a commercial property institution. WTF is going on? | hungry wolf
16/9/2009 16:11 | Difficult Leo...Buys have out done sells for the last 2 days but price has dropped 10%. I tend to side with wongman but it could also have topped out. I am hanging on for the time being. | spec7
16/9/2009 15:10 | They are scaring me | leopold555
16/9/2009 14:51 | MMs messing around, trying to scare PIs to sell? | wongman
16/9/2009 13:56 | True Jenny, but when stocks are very liquid and well traded, spreads are much tighter because it's not just the MMs quoting. Vodafone is typically trading with a 0.05p (100th of a penny) spread. CAL currently at half a penny, but the MMs are typically at 3p (eg EVO bid 38p offer 41p). So without the orders in addition to the MMs, the spread would be horrendous (as it sometimes is). | davius
16/9/2009 13:15 | Leopold i strongly recommend you look at IERE and read the recent posts there. It is beleived to have the biggest discount to NAV of any property company! | goodwill3
16/9/2009 13:05 | L2 strong everyday yet it is walked down :-| | leopold555
16/9/2009 08:01 | Thanks Leopold | wongman
16/9/2009 07:25 | Jenny MMs making a market, for who is questionble Just bought a few more while they are cheap | leopold555
16/9/2009 06:30 | The question of spread isn't explained away with 'liquidity' always. Why, for instance, has CAL quoted yesterday at 40.25 / 42 and later at 41 / 41.25? | jenny tulwought
15/9/2009 22:10 | Exactly liquidity. If you are a used car salesman and you have one customer coming in every week you have to maximise the profit margin and charge more for that car to that customer. If you have 10 customers everyday buying cars you can make a smaller profit on each to increase the customer base. | leopold555
15/9/2009 19:32 | could someone explain to me the significance of the spread i.e. what does it mean if it's small/big, is it to do with liquidity and mms? | wongman
15/9/2009 18:41 | Well I am buying more tomorrow, I nearly did when it went below 38p and the spread was narrow. Missed it though, you had to be quick. | leopold555
15/9/2009 16:50 | If i was a mm and i wanted the guys who have made a good profit from the issue to cash in then i would walk the price down toward the end of the session and see if they take the bait. In the last half hour of trading they brought in 250k but sold over 1m so i think its just mm games. | spec7
15/9/2009 16:31 | more interested in what spooked the market and caused the descent. | hungry wolf
15/9/2009 15:49 | Instutitions buying in, in creasing their stake, should be rising, anyone think this could be another QED? | m1tu
14/9/2009 19:52 | seriously speaking though, this is holding out well against the dilution and there is still room for further increases. | wongman
14/9/2009 18:15 | Probably right cyber, will be interesting to see how this settles once people have decided to stay or take the profit from 24p.. Having lost out on the 100p drop too 50p i would hate to miss out on the 24p to 50p rise :-) | spec7 |
