I just have a lurking suspicion that one day this company gets taken private.

yes... so the recent slip is non Co specific ... mostly

In theory their earnings should be non correlated, but the share price has always been very correlated with the wider financial sector - this is arguably the markets failing to price this properly, and in the long run you'd expect the share price to move in line with earnings. But as it stands BUR is very much a high beta share (so when bank sell off 1% this tends to sell off 2%).

This fall is on little/no volume. We will shortly be at the point where no value is being attributed to Petersen. In the US they apparently given much shorter advance notification of the results date, typically 1-2 weeks. I suppose one positive is that it willl be quarterly after the next notification. It would be great if Judge Preska would reach the end of her deliberations, 8 months really should be long enough.

I thought bur is not correlated to the other financials market ....

I am monitoring the correlation

to the interest rate environment, US banks collapse /svb and signature bank in the last week/

I can not determine if this fall is CO specific or the general environment, specially in US

And Mano. In fact, BUR has been a daily fixture at the bottom of my leaderboard for what seems like for ever. Weasel-like to leave investors in the dark for so long, using the switch in reporting rules as an excuse - it does them and us absolutely no favours.

Agree they need to update more regularly, I'm sure the slide in share price over last 6m is mainly because of the radio silence. Compare with LIT which is putting out regular updates on their cases.

I think there has been no updates about anything material to the market since early August and we don't even have a date for results which normally come out in March. I know we are moving to quarterly reporting but we need better communication

Mildly amusing.Interesting insofar as we now know what that 140 million case was about.Burford funds hundreds of lawsuits so I'm not surprised that occasionally there will be a skirmish. But the funding conditions are all in the contract. The company does not 'run' the case. However,as we can see, when the client ,for want of a better term, created a secondary market amongst its own clients,Burford negotiated to have limited right to evaluate any proposed settlement.Ho hum.

The more I listen to Bogart the more I feel confident in his ability to maximise returns for shareholders. Let’s be honest, the lack of settlements and cash recoveries has been an issue for Burford in recent years. Taking the cash here last summer would have been tempting. Yet, Burford seems to have stood up for shareholder value at least twice… it seems they called out Sysco on the side deals and then renegotiated a better contract with specific provisions that protected the company’s shareholders in a scenario where the claimant might have lost economic interest in the outcome… nice job. Arguably, that it is now in the public domain is a helpful development… we get a window on how BUR operates… we can see that they now have a decent cash flow payday on the horizon… I’m less bothered about the image of the legal finance industry. There will always be serious contract violations and those looking for a low risk way to extract value from the harm caused.

It's Sysco saying Burford sought, as per terms of their agreement to block Sysco settling their dispute. Sysco believe Burford worked in cahoots with Boies Schiller, Syscos legal team, to block the settlement. With the intention of getting a more lucrative settlement.Burford say not true. Either way a client taking action on the company that funded it's litigation looks bad. They could do with tidying up.

Seems there are fair points from both sides, hopefully they can reach an agreement. It's not clear if Sysco won its antitrust lawsuit? It seems that they did. Is this Burford arguing that Sysco could have made from the lawsuit?

YPF executives plus 15 public officials including the Economy Minister and the the Secretary of State, are traveling to Houston and New York next week. YPF is celebrating 30 years listed in the NYSE.

YPF has two major ongoing lawsuits in the U.S.: Petersen/Eton (New York) and Maxus Energy (Delaware).

The Maxus Energy trial is scheduled to start this coming Monday in a Delaware Court. If it doesn't, and according to Judge Goldblatt's publicly available agenda is not going to happen, it would mean that an agreement has been reached by both sides.

Sit tight. It looks as if the announcement does not affect BUR.

Don't forget that YPF has two major ongoing legal proceedings in the U.S.: Petersen/Eton and Maxus Energy.

Next week (Friday) there will be an announcement. We don't know yet for sure whether if it's going to be related to the expropriation case or to the Maxus case.

The exprop. case has, as we know, motions for summary judgments. The Maxus case has a scheduled trial date as of March 6 (coincidence?)and will run through April 20.

Roughly 45 YPF executives and public officials are traveling to Houston and New York. Something is coming. It would be nice if it affects BUR or not.

all my plays are trading bellow NAV. if a company exits their position bellow or at book value all my shares went down. predominately in tech and in natural resources.

expecting here the same specially in an rising interest rates environment.

NAVs in general - most of the NPVs should be remodelled due to the rising rates and the result will probably a drop - all being the same.
