There was 2 trades(400k each) recorded by ADVFN as sales but at slightly different prices suggesting to me of a cross trade or B&B. What do you think? The other 130K trade may or may not be the same holder

A settlement, if there will be one, will likely happen should the claim survive summary judgment

Petersen's lawyers did indeed file their letter before the court yesterday:

"...Defendants are barely concealing their continued tactic of pursuing delay at all costs.

"More than two months after discovery began — and more than five years after Petersen was filed — Argentina has produced 3,150 pages (the images of many of which are illegible), and YPF has produced zero. Anything more, they say, is totally impossible during the pandemic — never mind that YPF pledged in SEC filings to "maintain the activity . . . levels registered during 2019" notwithstanding "COVID-19". And what about depositions? Those, they say, would be impossible without documents. Never mind that these cases are years old and that Defendants’ top-shelf counsel undoubtedly have key documents at the ready and have discussed the central issues with their clients at length. If Defendants maintain these positions Plaintiffs expect to file motions to compel in due course.

"In the meantime, Plaintiffs have produced nearly 50,000 pages and expect their document productions to be substantially complete in the next two weeks. In addition, Plaintiffs offered on September 23, 2020 to discuss scheduling the depositions of their own witnesses, even though Defendants have not yet issued a single deposition notice. Defendants have not responded."

No need to do anything if you wish to hold your Burford shares in UK , I just received the below from HL-Burford Capital Ltd: Important information about your shares

Burford Capital is in the process of adding a listing of its shares on the New York Stock Exchange. This will be in addition to the existing listing on AIM in the UK.

You don’t need to do anything

Due to the required process to obtain this dual listing, we’re required to make an election if we wish to keep the shares in the UK, tradeable on the UK stock market. You don’t need to do anything – we’ll automatically elect for you to keep your shareholding in the UK. This will ensure you can continue to trade on AIM in the UK and benefit from our lowest possible dealing charges.

There will be a short period when you’re unable to trade the shares

In order to ensure all trades are completed in time for us to make this election, you’ll be unable to buy more Burford Capital shares between 14th–16th October 2020 and unable to sell them on 15th and 16th October. The US listing is expected to happen on Monday 19 October – and from this date you’ll be able to trade your shares with us again on the UK market, although the exact time of day will not be known in advance.

We have based this information on our understanding of the documentation issued by Burford Capital. Nothing here is a recommendation. If you’ve got any questions please contact us so we can help.

Yours sincerely

interesting point from sebastian maril

"Burford Capital's stock will begin trading on Wall Street on October 19.
- Burford is the majority owner of two lawsuits against the State for the expropriation of YPF.
- Today the company will file a complaint against Argentina in New York for delaying Discovery."

Burford may be a volatile share but it sure is reassuring - which in the present times helps a great deal. When it tumbles down it jumps back up - I guess it’s all controlled by day traders but these swings leave room to trade .

I assume any shorts here, are taken out for price hedging purposes for larger equity trades - and not strategic/speculative shorts? Because the latter (trying to buck an obvious uptrend on an excellent company) would surely be just throwing cash down the drain, while there have been obvious short targets elsewhere, eg Rolls Royce. Or a very short term short to benefit from the spike on results day? (that's one I traded, but only long, with a reentry on Friday)

Kuvari LLP increased their short on the 1 oct 2020 by 0.11%. Possibly why the price tanked after reaching 750?

Am i right to say that on the 30th of June 2020 BUR NAV per share is £7.87 per share? Based on a total net assets of £1,720 million (Burford only). I guess this does show how undervalued bur is, does anyone know what similar companies nav per share are? Thanks

The wood processors accuse forest authorities of the federal states of having maintained a log syndicate with municipal and private forest owners and of having sold the wood to the sawmills at overpriced rates. The state government in Thuringia has not yet responded. North Rhine-Westphalia rejected the allegations. Environment Minister Ursula Heinen (CDU) described the complaints as "not appropriate". The state government is currently preparing the statement of defense.Litigation financier takes over litigation costsThe sawmills have submitted their claims to the international litigation financier Burford Capital, who will pay the litigation costs and, if successful, will be entitled to part of the compensation. Burford Capital lawyer Rüdiger Lahme told the Westfalenpost: "The state forest administrations have long acted like landlords. That is why the sawmills did not dare to take action against the states alone. Small and medium-sized businesses that have been duped by the state for a long time are also at issue are." Betup means something like duping. Burford Capital will pull the process through to the last instance.
