Good points Maaddox.I would never claim ( or wish to predict) where the share price will go.As you know,I maintain it is the least important piece of information about a company, unless,of course, one intends to buy or sell.Investors, having done their research and made their decisions get comfortable in their stocks. But I digress. If,as you predict, the weak holders sell out, then I think we will all be better off.The sooner Burford is held by those who understand the business model, the better. The danger here,as it always has been,is to sell too soon.Of course the stock doesn't know you own it.For me,there will be milestones.I look forward to reaching each one and not being tempted to sell.

It will open at 794.5p or thereabouts, then there will probably be some shareholders that have been waiting for a share price recovery in order to exit - that'll bring the price down. We'll then go sideways until the US opens - then we'll see where we go thereafter.

I expect it'll take some time for new US buyers to take out disenchanted UK holders that have been nursing their losses from August 2019. When they do the momentum will accelerate and a full recovery will be underway.

so how does it work, will there be a jump at opening on AIM tomorrow as the prices synchronise? Since the US share price is the latest price

Well both markets have closed on Burford Capital (LON:BUR)'s first day on the US NYSE. The share price on AIM was pretty static until the US opening, then it took-off with a couple of periods of volatility to a UK close at 761.5p a respectable 5% rise. Over on the NYSE the rise was from the $9.45 open to close at $10.25 (High $10.50) so a rise of 9.31%. Which on a STD:USD rate of 1.29 makes it 794.5p and a overall rise on the day 69.5p or 9.6%.

That's a very respectable first day's performance.

Quick share price pop in the US means premium to NAV and Bur can raise equity for expansion in a way that's value enhancing for us

who is the main cases generator? businesses eg. - all related financials. same people/circle. who is providing finances for funds - financial industry...

by knowing the share, firm, business - the community becames more open to do business

Kaos: Think there's a distinction to be drawn between financial circles PR and law industry PR. Agree with DJ that the former is pretty wasted time for BUR (other than respect to cost of capital in bond issues etc) but the latter is crucial and BUR seem to do thst type of(less visible to outsiders) PR pretty well.

PR does not mean just share price it means getting cases presented, funds, talent, legal community awarness (courts, judges too)

dj - many US PE offers in UK recently - but low ball offers. and still many unsuccessfull - saga, AA.

hard to take over peoples business - where people can walk out. no chance at this stage imho. when it becomes even more institutional - bundling the cases into the paper for resell etc

then maybe.

I disagree with you on the PR front. but not because of the share price gains. But because of the image of BUR and the whole industry popularization. There is only once when one can do the first impression. Be bold, not soft - if you are going places fast and efficient.

In many respects,Burford's listing on the NYSE has gone about as well as one could have expected. The omens were propitious. The fact there was no comment in the main financial press in the UK was,in my opinion, very positive. No news really is good news. One might describe it as a 'soft opening'.
I am very happy not to see the officers of the company on my (financial) TV screens.Much better to have them run the company.Continue to oversee the due diligence of incoming cases. The less time spent promoting the company the better.I understand many will not agree. With respect, let's agree to differ.I'm not here to make a fast 5/10 30% gain,( or,for that matter,a 5/10/30K gain). For me,this is a much bigger deal.
I continue to worry that the co.is very vunerable to an opportunistic bid. With over 2 trillion dollars in dry powder being held by PE and others ,looking for returns above cash ( which is negative,),the ROIC and, perhaps more relevant, the IRRs of Burford ,along with the non-correlated returns ,may well attract opportunistic bids.Anything under £20 a share is stealing the company.I stress I am speaking metaphorically.

IB was showing me $10.50, which when covered back to sterling appeared to be c25p higher than AIM price - but spreads are wide - so not totally sure if I could have traded the difference

grs,

Yes it is confusing as the majority of companies in England & Wales have "PLC" in their title. BUR though is incorporated in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The Companies (Guernsey) Law, 2008 (Companies Law) came into force on 1 July 2008 and this act makes no distinction between private and public companies hence the humble "Ltd" designation.

Also on IG if you select ‘Burford Capital Limited’. The AIM listing is ‘Burford Capital Ltd’ rather confusingly!
