Aside from the dividend/buyback debate, BP's finance costs in Q3 23 were over $1bn which restricts shareholder returns.

He won't double down, he will continue the existing strategy and he will adapt it as society changes. I might expect to see more on biogas.

A great article by A Neil. 100% my sentiments.

Given that the large holders of BP canvased for Murray to get the job I would hope (expect) they will get some sort of payback on results day, and the small holders might get some too. I have to admit if Murray doubles down on the green agenda I will sell my shares (not the gain I hoped for, but a gain all the same). Over to you Murray.

This was outside the paywall for me....... seems that the next set of numbers and pronouncements (or not) will allow for a pivot north (if positive). If not then at this discount might be worth a top up if it drops to 420 as it might yield 6%.

My guess is $1.5B buyback , increase of 10% in divi, biogas growth with the others in the green space having less to invest.

One thing is that the share price will move a lot come the digestion of the pronouncements on the day.

Roll on early February.

#ADG, I watched a really interesting documentary on the Rigs of Nigg from the 70's, real boom time for the industry up there, I continue to hold for the dividends here but am also now looking to build a position in Shell to compliment my OnG holdings..

You can tell Murray is a big hit. Oil $78 a barrel, share price 446 year low, not brilliant, really.

On the positive side - the BoD shouldnt have to worry too much about this bloke shagging their wives - no doubt much to their wives disappointment. _:-)

It is tiny. Virgin Money 5.4% and £85k guaranteed before any capital loss. Not been a good few months at the bank of BP.

Yeah hellscream it’s looking pretty grim - relentless drop day on day and I hold no hope of an up day anytime soon - hope I’m proven wrong
Small tiny positive is that yield now 5%

447p should provide some technical support, if not we go much lower.

Looks like Im not on my own though apparently the big holders were keen on him which seems a bit weird - as I said its not very adventurous and doesnt smack of forward looking positivity. Bit dull IMO. In fact a bit like Sunak as PM
