28/12/2023 09:37 | They are recruiting with in. Nothing much will change. I'm afraid. But saying that we might be pleasantly surprised by an outsider coming on board. We need a tough oil man who takes no B S. | veryniceperson

21/12/2023 15:11 | Ordinary share reporting is more opaque..... RNS 8/12 .... 16,911,814,540...... RNS 12/12 ... 16,907,922,125 ( as 11/12 ) RNS 12/12 ... 16,903,532,821 ( as 12/12 ) ..... Difference of 4,389,304 ??? So how come the difference between 8/12 and 12/12 ?? when no buybacks reported after 8/12 RNS 14/12 ... 66,000,000 Ordinary shares issued advised 15/12 RNS 15/12 ... 17,173,532,821 The difference is 204,000,000 which are the ones taken from Treasury so that adds up.... | gwatson56
21/12/2023 14:43 | It could be that BP finance are not reporting correctly on RNS's. An example is Treasury Shares..... RNS dated 8/12 ....... 931,791,666 shares in Treasury RNS dated 12/12 ...... 931,267,664 for 11/12 and 12/12 shares in Treasury Where did 524,002 Treasury shares go between 8/12 and 11/12 ???? there was no RNS.? Sure 204,000,000 were issued out of Treasury and the current total is..727,267,664 Either I'm really missing something... or BP finance are trying some of those high alcohol mince pies. Do the maths.... 524,002 Treasury shares circa £2.5M gone awol. Like I say summit could explain the delta just I cannot see it. Idea's anyone ? | gwatson56
21/12/2023 12:46 | My thinking also. Why? Is something going on in the background? A merger, maybe? Larger buybacks in January? It's a mystery! | veryniceperson
21/12/2023 11:34 | VNP raised the point some time ago re buybacks. I took a closer look at the table of purchases completed. I attach an extract from the BP spreadsheet. It appears to have duplicate entries ?? The number to the right is million of shares purchased for the week noted.. 30-Oct 3-Nov ..........17 6-Nov 10-Nov ..........22 13-Nov 17-Nov......... 22 16-Oct 20-Oct .........21 23-Oct 27-Oct .........22 30-Oct 3-Nov ..........17 6-Nov 10-Nov ..........22 13-Nov 17-Nov .........22 20-Nov 24-Nov......... 22 27-Nov 1-Dec.......... 21 4-Dec 8-Dec ...........22 It was noted in the Q3 results that $1.5B buyback (start 30/10 - end 2/2). Looking at the RNS's and above (last six lines) I get circa 125M shares whereas at a price of a £4.80 average BP would need to purchase circa 250M shares. So unless I am intoxicated by mince pies and brandy cream and my calculations are wrong why have the buybacks stopped ?? | gwatson56

21/12/2023 08:32 | Press release New vision to create competitive carbon capture market follows unprecedented £20 billion investment (wonder what happened to the old vision :-)) Louise Kingham, bp’s UK head of country and senior vice president of Europe, said: We welcome the announcement of the UK government’s CCUS Vision, which sets out a bold plan for making the UK a global leader in carbon capture, utilisation and storage, as well as the positive steps forwards announced for both Track 1 and Track 2 CCUS clusters. CCUS has an important role to play in helping the UK deliver on its net zero targets and bp is committed to continuing to make progress on its projects, and helping to ensure this vital industry can deliver on its significant potential. | spacecake
