If you are asking about post 8797, I assume he / she wants to reinvest the dividend payment, so wants the price low?

Yes but if the concern is the share price going down then it would go down when the share goes ex-div (ie when the company is committed to the dividend) rather than when the dividend is paid. It's just a cash flow movement.

Such as life. I feel just the same. I thought BP would hold over a 5.00. If you brought 4.60/70 ish it is a licence to print money at least 3 times a year. I have been following them for a few years. Check the grafts out. No, I haven't been doing it either, but the evidence is there. I have bruises all up my leg kicking myself.

I've always wondered why Barclays are so positive over BP . Seem to be sticking with their ridiculous £10 target through thick and thin. I can only guess they are heavily exposed to BP as their main bankers or through credit facilities.

I suspect there is more to Looneys departure than purely his indiscretions. That's history now . What's more important is the new guy coming in and it's likely to be Murray. Can he he deliver ? That is the question. It's the easiest thing in the world for BP to play safe and stick with the status quo . That's kinda disappointing a tad .

The most scandalous thing about the clawback from Looney, is what he was entitled to!! £32m for a share price performance that, at best, is uninspiring. Executive pay is completely out of control...
