How would they do that? Supply and demand. You would have to sell in quantity to drive the price down. So say you get your mate to do that and then you swoop in and buy the whole thing cheap. What has your mate got from the deal?

Anybody think that the powers that be may be holding BP price low in anticipation of a bid? (I have no doubt whatsoever that there are entities/others can manipulate any companies share price if that is what’s wanted and it suits an agenda)

I could just see it….. Chevron/Shell/whoever bid for BP at 600p a huge 33% premium above current market price…….
When it should really have been ……. bid at 800p a 25% premium above current market price….

Stranger things have happened and in big finance things are manipulated to suit those that control these things that’s absolutely a certainty

Yep. It's as if the market does not realise bp's renewable ebitda is only 10% of group. Bp still is very much an oil company even with all the messaging on renewables

You would think BP share price would move up 10-15p due to oil prices going up, albeit it's a temporary blip due to Middle East tensions.

Oversupply is slightly reduced due to Libya / Iraq; tanker/transport rates are increasing Oil would be $10-15 lower without these issues. $100 bbl unlikely in 2024.

any oil targets hit in the middle east and we could see $100 oil pretty fast.

Shifting sands 'n all...

Hertz to sell one third of it’s EV’s — customers don’t want them and they cost too much to fix

With the western world hurtling into new cars that are more costly, inconvenient, slower to refuel, and prone to burning down carparks and cargo ships, it was only a matter of time before the cracks in the socialist car market started to show.

Also reckon that POO will rise given the pending Yemen activity this PM / tomorrow.

It seems to be trading ok in the morning then when Wall Street kicks in down she goes.
Vanguard Inc.has $7 Trillion of global assets under management including over 4% in
Bp shares along with Blackrock and its 9.51% holding they can both use all the financial short term instruments to pull the BP share price up or down as they so wish to suit a particular scenario. Its basically shorting and regulators allow it because it produces liquidity in the markets.Simply Buying and Selling shsres amongst large Institutions went out of fashion years ago .Sad really and a sign of the times!!

Apparently, the tanker was one previously owned by Iran, confiscated by USA under Anti-Iran rules. Not very brighgt of owners to use it on that imo.

Bring it on - I for one am tiresome of BPs lacklustre performance and low valuation compared to its peers.
Sadly, with the current board/management structure this once great company would be better for shareholders to be taken out and absorbed into one of its much better managed peers.
Bring it on as I’m full up up of it all

Many substantial shareholders these days in Public Companies are not in it for the long term.So they tend to either short the Company themselves or lend out shares to
Speculators /gamblers for shorting.By any yardstick BP has a low p/e and good Dividend
yield and has a low Mkt Cap compared to its American peers
If BP keeps producing the goods eventually the Shares will be revalued and the upside could be huge .Chase bank selling its large stake to a predator would be a big
catalyst and maybe a starter for ten ?
