dafrog !! No I am not !! Dont expect my views to be shared
by everyone on subjects like this but i do find it interesting
speaking to (ex)service people who have been directly involved
and affected by our elected leaders horrendous blunders. IF
one of my family friends or relatives had been killed or
maimed as a result I think I would be questioning what on
earth was the point of it all. Fantastic work has been
done by our service personnel in many areas in Iraq and
Afghanistan but it doesnt alter the basic facts that were
very likely dreadful long term awful mistakes getting involved
there and out leaders just never seem to learn from them.

At least Cameron is publicly stating we wont be getting
too involved this time in Iraq and we are limiting it
to humaritaritan assitance although its hard to see
tornado bombers not being used to do just what they
were intended for and thats dropping bombs !

I would suggest its our politican leaders who are the main liars
and deceivers and I do wonder one day if we ever will see Tony
Blair being tried in the Haugue as a war criminal unlikely though it
would appear as it would imply George bush would belong there too
as thats never going to happen.

No because shares dropped far too much for the perceived risk from Russia/Ukraine issues.

mark, do you think Iraq is now in a better more stable state and poses
less danger to the UK than pre the last invasion?.
I don't.

One of the attractions here is the reduction in share count, the % reduction
helped by a lower share price.

For longer term holders the longer the share price remains depressed while the back back
continues, the better.

But should British foreign policy be to knowingly let atrocities happen? Surely someone has to come to the rescue in extreme human suffering. Its a pity it always has to be us.

@jmf. Putin did not stop us getting involved for the good of the UK, he did it for his interests as he has a naval port in Syria, trade and other interests. UKIP also argued against our involvement having seen the disasters of Libya, Egypt as well as Iraq. Putin engineered the take over of areas of Georgia and is doing the same in Ukraine. Putin wants the return of the old USSR, that is clear. He amended the constitution so he could be president again and he will be there for life.

its not putin whos is the main danger. Its our fool of a prime minister.
Its not that long that putin acutally stopped us getting involved in the
Syria mess. How many British soldiers would have been
killed and maimed in that ?

I see Cameron the dangerous clown is at it again with
his warmongering talk. See
The man really is an embarrasing buffoon. He seems determined
to get us involved in yet another pointless war with someone.

In this 100th anniversary year of the Great War its incredible that
our leaders have learnt absolutely nothing from history. Lions led
by Donkeys was never more true.

I may add some more next week depending on price,
the current share price discounts a considerable amount imv.

If there is some asset grab then it's going lower,
unlikely imv, but that's just my best guess.

I see Putin and the Russians are actually praising Exxon for their work
in then Artic.

See

I dont think BP or Western Oil Companies have too much to fear from Russia as
clearly they need the Western technology. Its the Western idiot polictical
leaders like Cameron who are the main threat who acutally need the
vast Tax revenues on said same companies !!!

If you take a medium / long term view with the implications that the
days of low oil prices are now long gone then BP, Exxon, Chevron etc
are top class investments. I hold all these in my SIPP and intend
to keep until retirement and hopegully well beyond.

There will always be short term volatility in share prices as nearly
all Oil companies are affected by so many poliitically volatile areas and
so many other economic factors.

Just hard to judge at the moment whether to buy a few more BP.
Current price around 4.70 with 5% yeild does look attractive and
they hold the 20% Rosneft stake at a good price.

If we get to 4.50 or below may just but a few more.
