29/10/2020 13:49 | Manics, I can offer at least a partial answer, my other half works in healthcare and a number of friends work in hospital settings. Putting deaths to one side, the major issue COVID casus is the numbers who end up in hospital- many of whom will recover. This is a primary differentiator between Covid-19 and ssy seasonal influenza or pneumonia. A good % of COVID patient ebd up in ICU and many more in the tier below this which is HDU - High Dependacy Units. There wsrds are more labour intesive than many other sugical and non surgical wards. We went in to this psnfemic with approx 30,000mnurding shortages in the UK. The above link gives a good insight in to what is happening. | essentialinvestor

29/10/2020 13:21 | In the UK we are a rich nation, with billions in infrastructure enabling WFH and lockdown. Now let's go to Bangladesh, where you can't lockdown because if you don't go out and collect $3 worth of plastic bottles you will starve. There are no benefits or furlough or NHS. Let's go to Sudan. Let's go to Syria.Where are the death camps? Where are the JCB's burying bodies by the thousands? Where are the riots, fighting over whatever medical supplies are left? There aren't any, because Covid isn't serious enough to warrant it.So why are we giving up our way of life, pretending that it is? | manics
29/10/2020 12:51 | portside1: I can have exposure to BARC without holding shares, and I can profit as it slides.I care because of my morals. I care because of the community. I care because investors should be better informed and I can play a small part in that.I care for the people who get up each morning to give up their professional lives for this court proven criminal entity. I care about fraud and criminality. I care about what's right and wrong. Most here just want to take, take, take. I give back. | manics

29/10/2020 12:15 | So why do you care , I have more than I should have by far But I think it's only a matter of time for over 200 p If I die before then I will not know if it did or did not | portside1
29/10/2020 11:50 | *do not, sorry. | manics
29/10/2020 11:49 | portside1: correct. I do hold BARC shares currently because of compliance issues at the bank and the price action over the last few years. | manics
29/10/2020 11:20 | Just hope the yanks come to there senses and vote trump Biden is a man who is brain dead because of is life of drugs | portside1

29/10/2020 09:49 | force, if they recommence dividends next year it won't be 6.5 pence!. The buy case now is a 2-3 year view on increasing dividend payouts. | essentialinvestor
29/10/2020 09:40 | tentative recovery todsy but I think there is more downside in US indices with covid 19 concerns heightening and lack of stimulus until after election. this will drag Barclays doown too no doubt | arja
29/10/2020 09:39 | Essential....That's my concern, they could simply declare a pittance of a dividend! | forcemode
29/10/2020 09:24 | IF Barclays can pay out 6.5 pence in dividends again the current price is highly attractive, or a dividend in that type of region. That's the clearest buy case I can see - but it's a big IF. | essentialinvestor
29/10/2020 09:09 | portside1: you posted as statement of fact that BARC would see double digits this morning.17 minutes into the session, and you are buying.Talk to me. | manics
29/10/2020 08:43 | * it's a gift on what basis? | essentialinvestor
29/10/2020 08:43 | Essential: yes, but primarily based on technicals as a trade. I personally cannot invest in this business due to my morals, though I still say the IB fundamentally guards 90p, so buys with a mid term view into 2021/22 shouldn't do bad. | manics |
