10/10/2020 14:49 | I agree with Polka. BAE - RR merge not a great idea. I think it might also be counter productive..... | ribblewader

10/10/2020 12:32 | If BAE did that I'd be selling my BAE shares. Rolls is mired in debt, and worth very little. BAE should get it for free and definately not a merger that dilutes BAE holders | dope007
10/10/2020 10:05 | It looks as if RR will survive independently, so, hopefully, it won't need to be rescued. Other than that, it really is a question that only those with far greater knowledge of both companies and their prospects than IC readers have could possibly answer. Regarding any effect on the price, I doubt that it would improve BA's share price as I'd say that they have enough on their plates already, and any merger might throw up the unexpected. Best I can say. | poikka
10/10/2020 09:46 | IC magazine mentions whether BAE would come to the rescue of RR by way of merger? Any views.. what would that do to the price? | carpingtris

09/10/2020 07:18 | A quiet revolution The HybriGen® system not only cuts emissions, but creates a smoother ride for passengers and helps operators save on fuel and maintenance costs. The rise in planet-warming greenhouse gases is driving a need for cleaner transportation on the ground, in the air, and on the water. Leaders in the marine industry are taking note and vessel operators are making the move to green power and propulsion systems. BAE Systems is creating a path to cleaner harbors and waterways with its HybriGen® Power and Propulsion system. The system has three configurations to provide operators with options on their way to zero emissions. Each option not only cuts emissions, but creates a smoother ride for passengers and helps operators save on fuel and maintenance costs. | ribblewader

02/10/2020 13:37 | Thanks for that link,as you say ,not just a note! I see he also identifies the Somalian pirates and the Russian Navy as the baddies. Hard to imagine that Putin or Xi Ginping allowing journalists to publish analysis of their weapons capabilities. But then there is obviously a bit of conflict of interest where a marketplace exists for weapons sales. Hard to sell something without giving its details. It is also a reminder of big some of those costs are. Good for BAe! | wad collector
02/10/2020 07:18 | The Royal Navy’s Future Frigates – An Analysis Bit of a long article, but worth the read...... Without a medium-calibre gun the Type 31 will be incapable of providing NGS. Nevertheless, for its intended roles in low-medium intensity conflicts the frigate is very well equipped to provide air defence against aircraft, UAVs and AShMs and against surface threats posed by fast attack craft. The 40mm gun is arguably superior to the Phalanx as a CIWS by delivering a heavier weight of fire further away from the ship. The gun has a rate of fire of 300 rounds per minute (rpm) and has a maximum range of 7.8 miles (12.5km). The 57mm gun can fire up to 220 rounds per minute out to a range of 10.6 miles (17km). Both guns can fire the BAE FUZE Pre-fragmented, Programmable and Proximity-fused (3P) ammunition and can quickly switch to engage a range of air and surface targets. | ribblewader |
