11/9/2007 11:20 | Global Stocks, U.S. Futures Rise; Ericsson, Posco, Exxon Gain By Marco Bertacche Sept. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Stocks in Europe and Asia advanced on speculation the Federal Reserve will lower interest rates next week to spur expansion in the world's biggest economy. U.S. stock-index futures rose. Ericsson AB rose the most in more than a month after the world's largest maker of wireless network equipment said growth will remain ``strong.'' BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group led mining shares higher in Europe as copper rose. South Korea's Posco and JFE Holdings Inc. advanced in Asia on higher steel prices, while Exxon Mobil Corp. led gains by U.S. stocks trading in Europe as crude oil climbed to within 50 cents of a record. The Morgan Stanley Capital International World Index added 0.6 percent to 1,542.38 as of 10:53 a.m. in London, with all 10 industry groups gaining. Standard & Poor's 500 Index futures expiring in September advanced 0.3 percent. Interest-rate futures show traders increased bets the Fed will lower its benchmark rate by half a percentage point on Sept. 18. ``The market is expecting a rate cut by the Fed and that can restore investor confidence and set stocks on an upward trend again,'' said Alessandro Capuano, a trader with IG Markets in London. didn't think 0.5% cut was that highly % wise going to happen.............t nice............. ;-)))))))))))))) | ![]() blockbuy | |
