My take is ...up a bit then down a bit, up a bit, then down a bit.

No position.

hi mr...............not quite.............just about 45 mins to go...........glad to see PMUR and ALTI are still of the opinion of £9 and £10 respectively...............also remember that H2 over the last 3 years has been stronger than H1...........if I remember correctly.............

yr H1--------H2

04 £2.9m £3.4m +17%
05 £3.5m £4.6m +31%
06 £5.6m £12.1m +116%

(profit before tax figures used as per rns)

now they've said no less and £15m for H1..........so naturally the brokers have gone 2*15m........well 2*15.5m..............for FY............ie H2 will be the same as H1..............mmmmmmmmmm let me see..........some upward guidance a little way down the road if the pattern continues?????????????

very quiet today without the US online, just 20m traded in VOD so far.........manufacturing doing well, so to employment growth too.................helping the FTSE.............

top call that sm with 200 pts for the DOW...............did you trade it?????????????

still in the twighlight zone, US july factory orders up 3.7% v 3.3% expected.............

durable goods orders up 6.0% v 5.9% expected..............sounds like a pretty stable economy to me...........

Bernanke Says `Will Act as Needed' to Limit Credit-Rout Impact

Aug. 31 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve will ``act as needed'' to limit damage to consumer spending and economic growth that may arise from a deepening housing recession, Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said.

The Fed ``continues to monitor the situation and will act as needed to limit the adverse effects on the broader economy that may arise from the disruptions in financial markets,'' he said at the Kansas City Fed's annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. ``Further tightening of credit conditions, if sustained, would increase the risk that the current weakness in housing could be deeper or more prolonged than previously expected.''

The remarks are Bernanke's first since a sell-off in credit markets forced the Fed to cut the interest rate on direct loans to banks and shift its policy focus toward economic growth, rather than inflation. The chairman suggested the Fed stands prepared to cut the discount rate further or use additional tools to ease the strains in markets.

``The Federal Reserve stands ready to take additional actions as needed to provide liquidity and promote the orderly functioning of markets,'' Bernanke said.
