28/6/2004 11:12 | Yes BB its shaping up nicely. Friday brings us within T20 range, and selling seems to have expired, now we wait for pre-results demand to build. for a bit of fun in july I will post guesstimates of what I think may be in the results. | mieke

27/6/2004 20:56 | Relax HT - by mid week we will be in range for the T20 merchants. As long as the price holds around this level I will be happy till then. It wasnt more than 7 trading days ago we had a 750,000 trade I recall. The important thing is that the volume of sells dries up as folk consider that the buy in the high 50s, sell in the mid 60s trade is breaking down as the results bring the prospect of the shares moving sharply higher.... | mieke
27/6/2004 20:39 | We still have declining volume....I keep on going on about this, but share price going nowhere and sustaining until this changes !! | holdontight

27/6/2004 13:34 | things appear to be going poorly in Iraq again this weekend, and it doesnt take a crystal ball to know the baddies are going to do all they can to cause havoc on and around the 31st. Combined with a confirmation from the Fed thats its a 0.25% rise and steady as she goes up with rates, I find it hard to imagine that the $ will do any more than tread water. So we may be looking at a few weeks at least of POG plus $400. You couldnt wish for a better backdrop for the results....... I believe this time around AVM will report in US$,but it shouldnt have any direct impact. | mieke
27/6/2004 09:42 | Biswell - I consider the slow stochaistics at the bottem of its range an interesting buy signal. I do not consider it at the top of its range a sell signal when results are 3 weeks away. Its not a difficult concept. Please update us again on your OXS prediction.... | mieke
26/6/2004 22:18 | I still think Biswell is loading up with AVM shares and sensibly, the cheaper he gets them the better, but the window is closing.. This is not a short by any standards, and anyone wanting a short would obviously find far better potential than a stock that is undervalued by some 300%,about to report a substantial underlying increase in profits and has the world at its feet. I genuinely believe that Avocet will prove itself to be in a far better situation than Peter Hambro in its ability to raise whatever money they needed for acquisitons.......if the situation arose. With a general opinion that Gold will be between $380oz and $500oz over the coming months there is hardly any trauma for Avocet as we head towards another 50-60,0000oz per year at Lanut. Biswell is not shorting,he should be considering the Builders sector or high priced retailers though timing is always the problem, long or short.. | ![]() richgit
26/6/2004 21:48 | Biswell - this is the first time I have bothered to visit this thread for ages, due to my impatience with your continued bearishness on what is a perfectly nice little gold mining stock. Frankly, I don't care what your personal forecast is for gold. 50% of the commentators in the market - some with vastly more knowledge and experience than your goodself - agree with you. The rest - equally experienced and knowledgeable - do not. So as far as I am concerned the jury is out for the moment. The aftermath of the elections may show a very different picture. In the meantime, AVM is mining gold, generating profits, and exploring for more gold. I simply do not understand why you have such a huge problem with a profitable company? Is that not, after all, what we are told we should be looking for? Profits? Earnings? Decent p/e ratios? What is wrong with Avocet Mining? | ![]() wdurham
26/6/2004 19:13 | So Mieke You dodge the slow stochastic when this time you do not like what you see. Remember Mieke you brought the slow stochastic argument up for buying.......but you won't give a reasoned argument for selling using your favorie slow stochastic indicator. Well for you and others that need a bit of TA education I post this link from Mr R.R the gold bull. In his article he includes the gold chart, and the RSI (relative strength indicator) from it you can see the RSI is at a level where it has previously failed. So folks we can expect to see POG do a reversal I am afraid from a strictly technical perspective Mr R.Ackerman has done this article, which gives his views on the HUI, when one looks at the first article re RSI together with stochastic also saying gold is now overbought....and feed that into this link, one can see where mining stocks are still heading for another lower low, sorry but it's the TA and charts that do the talking, I am just pointing it out to you click the blue area for the chart B | ![]() biswell
26/6/2004 15:21 | Biswell - instead of being a chart tart why not start to think about other factors........ wot like I hear you mumble? Like results on 21st July. You might just find the imminence of results might just relegate the relevance of charts to the bin. Its simple really. The folk that might be tempted to sell will now be thinking 'Well results are only 3 weeks away, and everything points to them being very good, so maybe I will hold and reap some extra rewards'. And because they dont sell in expectation the MMs dont have any stock. And then others think 'Maybe I will make a short term trade in AVM 'cos I hear the results are going to be good, better buy'. But no ones selling, so the MMs mark the price up. Surely you have come across this phenomenon before or is your light so well hidden under its bushell.... | mieke
