Even so, with a divi cover of 1.8, it's undervalued, so should start to motor once brexit is done and dusted.

To all you Dividend junkies

To all you investors that think dividends are the be all and end all of investing

The need to kepp an open mind about Smaller Cap stocks is IMO VERY important

The other day in the Telegraph it talked about the Henderson Small UK Cap Fund achieving over 35% in the last year or so.

They are not invested in (SDI) Scientific Digital Imaging ... which I think means they missed a very good opportunity that several other Institutions spotted.

Here is a 3 year view of how AV. adherents have fared V those invested in SDI

SDI announced today another excellent acquisition to add to their growing Group of company's ... soon in my opinion they will themselves get acquired before they themselves start to pay a dividend .

Still never mind ... one can't have everything

SDI is the one on top

it's divi stock without growth nothing wrong with that you either re-invest the dividends back into AV or invest in a different higher growth stock. You need balance in an portfolio.

My son asked me if I wanted to play his racing game on the PlayStation. He chose some fancy electric hypercar. I chose a dependable BMW 5 series. Anyway, he crashed it into a wall and all the wheels fell off. I cruised on past the burning wreckage to an easy win.

Does the graph show what it would be with dividends re-invested? Or in fact any dividends at all? Shows that I would be careful about LPA - whens the next profit warning due?

So buywell, if you'd bought LPA 2 years or so ago, you'd be 45% down. If you bought Aviva in 2010 and sold some a year ago you would have made +90%. We can all choose dates to apparently make the chart say something - what is your point: Aviva is undervalued? Aviva is a dog? Or?

Barclays brokers reiterate a strong Buy today. In addition they've also increased the target price to 562p. Looks like there's plenty of upside here!

Just for interest I did a comparison of what I consider to be an undervalued UK small cap , little debt, cash, paying increased dividends circa 3% , increasing turnover and with a good AGM update recently regarding record orders.

I decided to stack it V this share

Soft brexit almost assured as of last night. So what do we think? Strong pound hits share prices? Or will some of this discount finally lift?

I plan my next tranche investment next week into ISA. I agree with general consensus on thevboard that this share price will not stay low in medium term, strong Divi returns well covered by EPS. I think Aviva is one for the long term portfolio

Ah porsche just keeps cropping up and making the same banal comment every now and again. Aviva is a dog. share price will crash blah blah blah. Always the same. He's just trolling.

A 10% drop in the share price would equate to about a 42p drop. The divi only equals about 5% of the share price In theory therefore, the share price should only drop to about £4 or so. I,like many I think would re-invest most,if not all, of the payout on more shares, especially at these ludicrously low prices,so the drop would be insignificant come XD day. If this share was a dog, I don't know what description should be applied to shares such as Carillion,Interserve,Debenhams,Talktalk,Lonmin,Sainsburys.......etc etc etc! Am more than happy to be patient as Aviva has great growth opportunities, and i will harness the generous and well covered dividends.
