theres an interesting wrinkle with sipps and the like. in the ordinary course client assets in sipps will be held in a separate custody entity which is bankruptcy remote from the operator. however where an insolvency occurs and there arent sufficient assets to pay the costs of the insolvency practitioner then they can reach into sipps.

look up beaufort secs.

am hearing fr progressing but quite a bit of execution risk with unions. 3-4 still target. i would guess they pay down something like 2 of debt, bag 0.5 for group and special the rest. not sure on timing pre 26/11

uppompeii,

Cheers for that. I read in the ii terms that they held cash with other entities, various banks, but wasn't sure about equities.

Cassini, the money isn't help by the SIPP provider, so creditors wouldn't be able to get their hands on it.

LGEN share price storming ahead today after recent results with a current P/E of 7.8 leaving Aviva relatively unsung on a P/E ratio 3 points lower at 4.8...what can one make of that!!The former is up 4.4% and dear old Aviva just 1.24...better add some more like Eurofox....the share price must get a deserved re-rating soon? Good job that I also kept faith with LGEN.

Off topic but for those of you that hold SIPPs, does anyone know what the position of a SIPP holder is, if the SIPP is held with one provider and they go bust?

Let's assume the SIPP value is above the £85,000 FSCF compensation limit.

In fact I don't limit the question to just SIPPs, it could be that people hold more than one type of account with the same broker.

Do people take the risk, or split their investments between different providers up to the FCSF limit, or am I missing some important piece of information? The impression I get from the bulletin boards on ADVFN is that £85k is regarded as small potatoes by many of the investors here.

You’re right. Just saw a bit in sky news about it and assumed when they said “due to start” it was today.

Supreme court today starts the hearing on the Covid insurances cases. Presumably will last a week or so.

Three biggest funds in my ISA/Sipp are SL Smaller companies, Marlborough Smaller Companies and Marlborough Special situations - first is Harry Nimmo, latter two both Giles Hargreaves. Their respective records are excellent and the funds have even performed well since I bought in.
Also have a large European smaller caps (T.Rowe) and smaller russian holding - both have done OK and until recently henderson smaller companies, but switched those into more SL as their record is superior over most meaningful timescales.

Also have a couple of income funds that have performed badly - used to have Jupiter India, Marlbourough MultiCap, Woodford, and some HL "fund of funds" but sold out of these last year. All performed poorly.

Very roughly my fund sizes are 2-3 times my individual shareholdings.

When I top slice a trading position, I put money into 2 etfs. IDVY for total return, EMBE for income. First one is pretty low, based on my earliest purchase in 2012.
Second one has held up well. It has risky underlying assets, but well spread. Pays out monthly, which is nice.
I've never said to myself.. I don't want anymore income.

I generally run my sipp these days with minimal input from me, been lucky with SL Global smaller companies, BG Shin Nippon and Fundsmith equity and a couple of others.I have some standalone AHT, AV. and recently L&G.I've 30% cash still... and am more out of touch with the market than when I used to trade regularly.Has anyone a suggestion or two for funds and/or recovery shares that I should look at?I tend to look for growth as income funds always seem to have disappointed me, especially these last years. It would be interesting to hear what other Aviva investors invest in...

Some dividend visability like L&G would do wonders for the price. However, if they're looking to rebase, they won't be wanting the price to go too high....

I agree with you. I had ac with HSBC and if you can not get through the line for say 30 min in busy time they compensate you for the loss. With HL high platform fee but no compensation when you can not sell on their platform or by phone.
