Cash for at least a while longer.

The bottom will be purely economy driven, not covid daily headlines.

holding for now but will look for a stock to flip the lot into

I only bought AV. for the divi as we all know the share price is a damp squib at the

best of times. And the Bod are lily livered. I guess the divi will be rebased

when payment resumes, and the share price will react accordingly to settle into a trading

range 300p to 350p my BE 400p

my best guess would be that because they couldn't accurately quantify the likely losses on their GI book the PRA used that as an excuse to block their divi and neds folded. they don't really know how much exposure they have on interruption in business and travel yet as with travel many airlines wont have paid out yet which might give them secondary exposures for eg. any uncertainty like that, even though directionally you can imagine its not material and offset elsewhere, is enough to get PRA to block a divi. it will be temporary though as the full underwriting results flow through in the year unless they do discover some unknown downside. obviously landg and phnx don't have these exposures so I don't necessarily see a read across but the PRA put out a statement saying how welcoming they found these measures.

I do wonder what the allocation date is for management share options? I recall that at Hartford there was an amazing run of bad luck for the company with any bad news always seeming to emerge just before the allocation date. Some might think this suspicious. I could not possibly comment.

Don't understand why all these companies who have shelved dividends can't pay by way of shares (scrip dividend). They keep the money & shareholders can sell them for income or keep. A bit of dilution but it would be a very good Compromise.

You can say bye bye future revenues from travel insurance (not many people will be travelling), car insurance (less cars being bought, likely cheaper insurance, possible insurance rebate), pension (less jobs =less pension contributions = less aum =less fee generated.

Yes the dividend cancellation sucks, but with if they get into finacial difficulty there won't be any future dividends. Its akin to killing the goose that lays the golden egg.

Aviva could learn something from the French as 3 million French motorists are in for an unexpected cash bonus as one insurance company is reimbursing €100million to policyholders. Bosses at MAIF decided to make the goodwill gesture having seen a dramatic fall in the number of accidents as a result of people being confined to home.
Yep, my bike has yet to move this year.

Nice gesture.

I thought they were directed to withdraw dividends by the regulator

Very disappointing but to be fair I can see both sides of it. I would though have liked to see a cut in bonuses at least for management to show some solidarity with shareholders.

I think this suits the CEO and CFO.

There is less than 0 chance of any buyback imv.

The RNS seems to have been issued incomplete. I didn't see the bit where directors' bonuses were being pulled. You know, to conserve cash and show solidarity with other stakeholders...

Surely some mistake??

Like I said it's prudent .

Yes they'll face the wrath of shareholders seeking yield but many sectors are doing the same .

Uncertain times but acting prudently now strengthens the balance sheet not weakens it

I'm out here on that news. Poor show to go back on previous word. I've put it all in TXP to add to position there. I believe over there you WILL see significant capital growth next 12 months.
