08/4/2020 09:07 | Aviva have consistently under performed - I've held both these & LGEN since the financial crisis - although my holding here was reduced some years ago, I still hold enough. Not a straight comparison but a picture.... | ![]() skinny
08/4/2020 09:06 | Whether or not the withdrawal of the divi is prudent, a real question is what has changed over the last few days? It was only last week they were saying it would be paid (or at least failing to deny that report). So the question becomes; were they wrong last week or are they wrong this week? | ![]() wba1
08/4/2020 09:01 | Not really Aviva seems to be ran by limp wristed bores. Complete failure to realise capital growth pre Covid and now a failure to pay divi. | ![]() lako42
08/4/2020 09:00 | Does that mean he knows something the market doesn't about the possible provisions?.. No igoe . He's saying it's strengthens their balance sheet if any provisions are required . It's prudent I agree | ![]() diku
08/4/2020 08:58 | What about the bonus or freebie shares?... | ![]() diku
08/4/2020 08:57 | Surprising Aviva folded where L&G stood firm. | ![]() crossing_the_rubicon
08/4/2020 08:57 | No igoe . He's saying it's strengthens their balance sheet if any provisions are required . It's prudent I agree | ![]() gbyak
08/4/2020 08:54 | What a load of rubbish waikenchan, are you telling me that L@G wont survive now they are paying there dividend ? No announcement of bonus cuts or pay cuts, so they are looking after their own pockets, the management team. | ![]() igoe104
08/4/2020 08:47 | A prudent move, think off the loan provisions they will have to make in their tier 2 / tier 3 loan assets. Ensuring the company survives. | waikenchan
08/4/2020 08:47 | 9% of capital? Well, ok looking from 8am today, though I was disappointed with the share price a few months ago when it was in the 400's! | ![]() uppompeii
08/4/2020 08:44 | I hate this stock, I really do. Utterly pointless without the divi. Zero capital growth over such a long period of time and now no divi. An absolute dog. | ![]() lako42
08/4/2020 08:41 | I think the priority for this AV management team is funding the red cross, (10 million)unlike L@G who put their own shareholders first..... | ![]() igoe104
08/4/2020 08:38 | This is bad news, and confirms lack of balls in board room. I’m quite heavy in Aviva and it seems unbelievable they are stopping rather than cutting and is first time in over 20yrs as I can see. share price will tank and I will buy more sub 200p for sure. The company remain very profitable and well capitalised. It seems they want to keep a solvency rate very high and looks higher than LGEN. In current market and WW lockdown is not possible to win everywhere, but the hope is the market and company comes back in 2021/22 where we will recover these divi losses. Got to be optimistic as alternatives can be too painful | ![]() tornado12
08/4/2020 08:38 | Yes I agree with a few others here . It's financially prudent to hold the dividend . It strengthens the company not weakens it from a financial point of view . Ok , investors are miffed short term but I do think the board will reward shareholders at a later date with a special dividend . I added a few more at 240 | ![]() gbyak
08/4/2020 08:38 | I read the statement as inferring they were ordered not to pay it. A double hit for ordinary shareholders as they lose 9% capital and no dividend to replace it. On the upside their financial position is strong and preference shares are still being paid. | ![]() andyj
08/4/2020 08:35 | uppompeii - that's for when there's a crisis - oh no, wait a minute.... | ![]() skinny
08/4/2020 08:34 | Bonuses intact?.. | ![]() diku
08/4/2020 08:31 | Aviva CFO Jason Windsor needs to go for misleading the shareholders, by telling them they were getting the dividend only 9 days ago. | ![]() igoe104
08/4/2020 08:18 | The new bloke lost his bottle........ WJ. | ![]() w1ndjammer
08/4/2020 08:15 | They can pay a special, when Coronavirus ended. | ![]() montyhedge
08/4/2020 08:14 | Plenty of time for LGEN to cave ? | ![]() panshanger1 |
