Obviously can’t argue with you some very valid points and remember it’s not me saying this although I do agree.I wouldn’t normally listen to technical analysts but there are a few who perhaps we should when certain folks say the market is looking to take profits then they probably are. It’s been an amazing bull run for the USA but the reasons that have extended it are coming to an end is the Dow going to hit 30000 probably it’s a psychological level now but also I personally feel a peak.Remember those yields can disappear rapidly with huge capital losses a crash would bring.

They've been saying that for years. It's the same as saying yellowstone is overdue to erupt. Probably won't any time soon. Tesla's volitility probably more to do with how popular it has been with shorters than anything else. It has been like a compressed spring. Go figure...

Market correction has been suggested by many over many years . We are no longer in common sense valuation markets. Look at Tesla rocketing up at one end and usual defensive stocks like energy and insurance sector at near lows in some cases.

Also let’s say you and I took out our money , what do we do with it ? , Bank at 1/4% interest? when many companies are yielding 7% in the market.

Unless panic sets in I don’t see many withdrawing from stock markets and I don’t see a reason for panic . Corona with summer coming will disappear .

Top technical analysts are now predicting a 10% stock market correction in the US followed by a total market crash. The view is the market is now looking to take major profits off the table triggering a sell off that will coincide with very poor market data coming from around the world and made much worse by the corona virus especially if it begins to get far worse. The analysts cite ridiculous valuations, heavy debt, inverted yield curve yet again and the fact that the market is far more overvalued than at any other market crash. Let’s face nobody knows when a crash will come but what we do know is it’s way overdue and these guys ain’t idiots.

personally i cant see them doing very much nor anyone popping up to force them to do anything radical. the break up value, whilst prob higher than sp, isnt really high enough for someone like elliott to get involved. i can imagine they may streamline selectively and trim european assets but otherwise i think it will be more of the same. however long may it last as this is prob the best income share out there are clipping a yield of 7+% on an solid franchise that isnt under any industry or technological pressure and can keep printing coupons. so anyone expecting near term radical change or valuation shift will continue to be disappointed i suspect.

Traders like (to try) to talk a share down after they've disposed of their holding. It's the game they play.

AV. gets a mention in this piece from the end of January:

Tezcan Gecgil: Aviva

Aviva (LSE: AV) offers life and general insurance along with asset management products and services. Its share price has continued to underwhelm over the past several years, putting it on the radar as both a value and yield play for me.

The business provides investors with an enticing 7.3% dividend yield and the share price of about 410p throws up a trailing P/E ratio just over 7. On the other hand, the average industry P/E stands around 12.

Many analysts are hopeful that 2020 will indeed be the year management further improves the balance sheet and puts the company en route to robust earnings growth.

Tezcan Gecgil does not own shares in Aviva.

"Countries do not shut down for the Flu.

The stats currently quote 910 deaths - but only 3500 or so recovered.
Over 6000 in serious condition
So what will the deaths be among those 6000+ ?

I think the Chinese are trying to get this under control so that when the new infections are small they will continue to report the deaths that perhaps have already occurred.

That will smooth the stats.
But if its not brought under control they will have the cumulative under reported deaths to add in and then it will look much worse."

So just 3 days later they choose to add in some of those missing deaths and infections !

How did we guess ??

So some limited truth coming out from China now at last. It doesn’t matter how this is spun it will have major implications for markets going forward you could well see a 20% correction coming as the impacts on word growth are realised.
