10/9/2012 12:43 | Yorgi , have you still got your trading shares ? i was hovering over the sell button at 370p , should've sold but may get another chance before the weekend. | colva
10/9/2012 12:34 | Thanks BillyTKid , much appreciated. So this is what all the noise is about. "Having secured ownership of 31 degrees east first, Avanti has 'superiority' rights which will require SES to ensure that Astra 5B does not cause interference." "They don't like it up em Captain Mainwaring, they don't like it up em" | colva
10/9/2012 12:22 | Bit of a shakeout there maybe !!! Yes looking better Jonnib :-) Glad your relieved Rathlindri :-) The concerns being posted and discussed at the weekend were completely out of the blue to me and I admit I had some concern that the BOD had not made us aware whether or not there was anything in it. However as I commented earlier they have now "put that to bed" As for the update I always thought we would have an update earlier than 3 months time which I posted that view on 29th August however some of our "newer" posters seemed to think we would have nothing for 3 months and the share price was going nowhere before then. I didn't share that view at all. | ![]() yorgi
10/9/2012 11:52 | Phew! At £3.61 I took a safe T20 ,I was sure it could not go lower! At £3.55 took another , and another at £3.50 to borrow £16k in total. Started to worry at £3.40 with apparently no reason for it. Then the bulletin boards came to the fore and we got a reason over the weekend. I hoped the discussion would be enough to alleviate fears but the RNS was the icing on the cake. Got my £16k in place on a T3 at prices from £3.69+ to £3.71+ which rendered a profit of 224 shares. My son reckoned he prospers when unloading large amounts by selling small blocks and I was very sceptical of what he said. I experimented today and indeed to sell large numbers was going to cost 4p a share. I cannot be sure I optimised my sells but I gained 4 x £40 by doing it in small chunks and they cost me 4 x £8.95 in commission - so it was worth listening to him. I am so pleased I targeted £3.69+ because I expected to see £4 by now. A bird in the hand for sure. Hoping for £4+ still on my extra 224 shares to make a grand. Have not monitored buying but is it profitable to buy small chunks rather than one bulky buy? I'll take a look myself but it time to get out of bed whilst it is still morning :O) | nugacity

10/9/2012 11:40 | John we have seen significant upward moves in the past but not for some time and the concerns that we learnt about over the weekend were obviously known by the "big boys" for some time which now explains the weak share price over the last few weeks This mornings RNS does seem to have put that to bed now ! Thanks for posting Billy. | ![]() yorgi
10/9/2012 11:34 | Great article. Thanks for posting it BtKid. Is this our single biggest move in one day? John | ![]() 2350220
10/9/2012 11:27 | From jefferies: Avanti has completed another important step towards getting revenue generation from HYLAS-2 underway. This morning it reports successful completion of in-orbit testing. We believe this puts HYLAS-2 on track to begin commercial service within a couple of months. In addition, Avanti states that operating lifetime is likely to be longer than planned. An extra 1 year would add c.30p to our AVN price target. HYLAS-2 successful completion of in-orbit testing, operational life extended. Avanti has issued an RNS this morning confirming that it has now successfully completed the in-orbit testing of HYLAS-2. It has now received confirmation from the ITU that its filing for use of spectrum at 31 degrees east has been accepted in accordance with ITU rules, giving Avanti rights of use of that orbital slot. The company will now begin commissioning each of 41 beams, interfacing them with ground infrastructure. Full commercial service (and revenue generation) will begin progressively as beams are brought into commission. We expect the process to be complete in the next couple of months, in-line with previous guidance. Last June, Avanti disclosed that a "low-teens %" of HYLAS-2 capacity had been pre-sold (excluding options). We estimate operational life extended by one year. Further positive news from today's announcement is that because HYLAS-2 had a perfect launch and subsequent postlaunch manoeuvring, it has managed to save fuel, which in turn has extended HYLAS-2's operational life by, we estimate, 1 year to ~16 years. An additional year of EBITDA in our DCF for HYLAS-2 is worth c30p per share (8.5% of closing price). Luxembourg challenge to HYLAS-2 has been refuted by Ofcom. On Friday, industry trade journal 'Space News' carried an article which says the Luxembourg government has asked the board of the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) to deny HYLAS-2's licence to operate in its orbital slot at 31 degrees east. Speaking to Avanti, we understand that is not an accurate description. In fact, Luxembourg has asked the board of the ITU to overturn and delay completion of Avanti's regulatory process. Avanti brought 31 degrees east into use when HYLAS-1 occupied it for 16 days in 2011 (before moving to its allocated slot at 33.5 degrees west). Accordingly, Avanti fulfilled its ownership rights to 31 degrees east under the ITU's "use it or lose it" principle, and the slot was reactivated when HYLAS-2 re-occupied it after last month's launch. Avanti says it has received written confirmation via Ofcom from the ITU's Radiocommunication Bureau ('RB') that obligations had been met and ownership rights awarded. It seems that Luxembourg is now arguing that the RB's review was not carried out in accordance with the rules. The context to this is that Luxembourgbased SES is due to launch Astra 5B in 2013. This will be a predominantly Ku satellite with a smaller Ka-band payload, and it operate very close to HYLAS-2 at 31.5 degrees east. Having secured ownership of 31 degrees east first, Avanti has 'superiority' rights which will require SES to ensure that Astra 5B does not cause interference. | ![]() billytkid2
10/9/2012 11:10 | Very fair comment 2vdm :-) There is no doubt this mornings RNS was "just what the doctor ordered" ! | ![]() yorgi
10/9/2012 10:58 | good news reastassured. I'm averaged in here at £6.52,from pre Hylas 1 launch, but have always taken the long term view with AVN even though Evil K and others wobbled it. Only wish I had had the funds then for a major top up. I think in 12 months time the reality of what's happening here will put me back in profit and then the fun will begin. | ![]() 2vdm
