This morning the share price did make an attempt at 5514 but was resisted. It also came up against the Daily SMA200. Perhaps the US will oblige again but the Futures are taking a breather.

Sunbelt is Mities preferred supplier which will bring additional business in the UK. Haven't seen an RNS so can't be seen as a huge win. https://www.sunbeltrentals.co.uk/news-and-blogs/sunbelt-rentals-signs-multi-year-preferred-supplier-agreement-with-mitie/

Mr b"He probably thought they were quackers."lolThink the flat June US retail sales (following the rise in May) was seen as positive for rate cuts (I think - can't keep up tbh)

He probably thought they were quackers.

The share price has held up so far. Next target 5514.

Below is the 5 minute chart. The volume came in from the US big and strong.

First the good.

Yesterday the share price closed above the previous high and the 50% Fib and out of the descending trend.

Second the slightly negative.

It has dropped back from yesterdays close and is hovering on the 50% Fib but remains above the previous high.

Looking at the chart it will be seen that the 50% Fib (5310) has proved to be strong resistance in the past requiring a 'zoom'/gap to get through. It will not stay at the current level for long. Perhaps the US will provide buying volume to push it up as occurred yesterday..

AHT seems to be heading in the right direction once more and for the record, apart from maintaining my core holding, my AHT trades in 2024 to date for fun have been:

8/01/24 bought a few more @ 5012
25/4/24 sold a quantity @ 6046.9
12/7/24 bought a few more @ 5162.2

Thanks as always to bracke for his TA input, helping to provide some investment context.

Following on from post 62883

The share price has moved back and closed above the Fib at 5104 but is resisted at the previous high (5284) and also at the top of the blue descending channel.

So far it is Option 2 in the earlier post. That's the easy part now comes the difficult part; a break up out of the channel and above the 50% Fib at 5310 to form a higher high.

Mr bWouldn't disagree.Mr P has already said a cut will come before 2% because of lag (think he was having a pop at Mr Bailey lol).

I expect a rate reduction prior to the election even if inflation is not 2%. With a statement to the affect that the scene is improving and further rate cuts as inflation continues down during 2025 and 2026.

Mr bPersonally he shouldn't have targeted 2% anyway (will put aside my feelings about his interest rate policy!), appreciate there's political issues as well but 2.5% would have sufficed IMO with a longer term target to get to 2% by say 2026. He will drive the US into recession if he holds too long, raising his target for an interim period would seem to hedge his bets. Anyway all IMVHO and I know nowt.

Yes I can understand if he is confused,it's a mixed picture.

If the FOMC do cut the rate in September they will want to be certain that the inflation rate will not increase.
