23/1/2024 18:49 | No looking good for tomorrow 10% of the work force is about 500 jobs plus outflows not looking good for the last 6 months of 2023 this could get hammered tomorrow could be down by about 10% I hope I am wrong about it. what will MR Bird have to say about the Situation the company are in so much for a 3year turnaround gradually losing patience with mr bird | gaygay3
23/1/2024 16:34 | CWA1 - Assuming an average salary of £28k x 500 that’s a cost saving of £14 million per annum (less the redundancy package in year one). Should translate quite nicely onto the bottom line. spud | spud

23/1/2024 13:37 | Oh yes - Money well spent.......... NOT! spud | spud
23/1/2024 12:45 | That's interesting CWA1. Thanks. It has been stated on this thread in the recent past that there's a great deal of unease within the company and further, it's been stated that there's a lot of inefficiency. I suspect Bird will not be kicked out of the nest. It will be interesting tomorrow opening if ABDN share price drops below 150. I might be tempted to help the company with a small buy-back of £5k ;-) | mcunliffe1
23/1/2024 11:41 | The British fund manager Abrdn is preparing to cut hundreds of jobs in a cost-cutting drive aimed at boosting its flagging performance. Sky News has learnt that abrn will announce proposals for a round of redundancies alongside a hastily scheduled trading update on Wednesday morning. It was unclear whether abrdn would give a precise figure for the headcount reductions, although one market source said that it could affect in the region of 10% of its workforce of nearly 5,000 people. Analysts expect the company, which was formed from the 2017 merger of Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life, to disclose that it has suffered billions of pounds in additional fund outflows during the second half of 2023. | cwa1
22/1/2024 12:41 | Ok thanks hopefully will get more of an inkling from the T U | jubberjim
22/1/2024 11:36 | JJ, the Full year results 2023 are due on the 27th February. | skinny
22/1/2024 11:34 | will leave my bids and offers accordingly Sorry if i misled anyone but that was info I read on abdn investors calendar Rather sooner than later Might incite some action but I very much doubt it | jubberjim
22/1/2024 10:49 | Skinny: thanks for that info. I'll be watching ABDN today/tomorrow. If the report on Wed. morning is better than hoped the share price should rise nicely. Not so if bad report of course. Anybody any thoughts? | mcunliffe1
22/1/2024 10:41 | Pre-Close trading update at 7am on 24 January. | skinny
22/1/2024 10:27 | This does not seem to like 180p at all! | skinny
20/1/2024 10:37 | Think we are due a trading update on 27 February so until then will hold back from any further incursions Have paid a little more than I intended 169 but then what is life without a little bit of risk As Mc1 has said is now paying a dividend (8.1)on a par with Lgen (8.2)as it stands but still someway behind Phnx (10.2) but ahead of Aviva (7.71) Am happy to hold and once the market makers and investors come out of hibernation and rediscover their nerve will look to go again. As for Phnx if they maintain the dividend at the same level I will be happy but that brokers note from Morgan from some time back is holding sway at moment. Have a good weekend everyone | jubberjim
19/1/2024 19:03 | No idea gaygay. I did read though (on this thread) that Abrdn have increased the AUM and numbers of clients. That could be down to Interactive Investor. The share buyback has now finished (22 Dec 2023 I believe was the last purchase) and if you believe the BB supporters' that should have caused a fall in the share price once ended as they believe a BB helps to support the share price. I don't know if BB's help or not to be frank - and I don't believe anybody else can offer a definitive explanation either. But bet you some will try tho' ;-) I do see the share price of ABDN being a bit of a yo-yo and whilst that continues I will hopefully make a small profit from nipping in and out. If I get it wrong I'll hold for the divi. Have a great weekend all, including thebutler and Pierre as I hold no grudges and enjoy the banter. By the way Pierre, ask if you want any tips re. Vietnam. | mcunliffe1
19/1/2024 18:27 | Abrdn have had a good week up over 5% why I don’t no anybody no why | gaygay3
19/1/2024 17:22 | Hello Pierre, sure I know all about supply and demand. You 'demanded' (well, asked) for some advice/info. on my broker (post #2669 just nine days ago) and I supplied such info. I even managed to respond to you without irony. CWA1: I like it. ;-) | mcunliffe1
19/1/2024 16:53 | Did he say WHICH Christmas? :-) | cwa1
19/1/2024 14:11 | The butler you actually said the share price would be £2.00 by Christmas | budgiekevin
19/1/2024 11:51 | Because shares never go up in a straight kine, macca. Nice of you to share your lucky trades with us though. Very useful. | thebutler
19/1/2024 11:45 | I'm surprised you don't know about supply and demand mcun. | pierre oreilly
19/1/2024 11:36 | You probably actually believe that thebutler. So, how have I been able to TWICE buy £5,000 worth of shares and in the first case, sell them one week later for a £250 profit (after stamp duty and dealing costs) and in the second case, sell after two weeks with a £240 net profit? Sweet :-) | mcunliffe1
19/1/2024 11:27 | The share buy back is now having the desired effect. Shares on an uptrend, less stock available, nice rise. Just as I said would happen. Sweet :) | thebutler |
