10/2/2024 18:50 | After frittering away millions on badly managed buybacks we are where we are My opinions Mr Bird is living up to his name Clutching at straws and building(feathering) his own nest Not to long until results are out I await with equal measures of glee and trepidation. Collecting yet more splinters as is my wont Good luck. | jubberjim
10/2/2024 11:58 | @jubberjim ... I guess that was the FT article? Mr Bird also said the company had completed 'the bulk' of a programme to cut its suite of 700 funds to fewer than 400. That number goes some way beyond the 100 funds Abrdn said in 2022 it wanted to cull. It is worth noting that the £150m annual target represents a significant portion of the whole cost base ... ... found when searching for more on how many Bloomberg terminals were to be cut. BTW ... the cost of a Bloomberg Terminal can vary based on several factors, including the number of users and the level of customer service required. However, the general range is between $20,000 to $25,000 per user, per year I wonder how many are used for their own use? | peterbill
10/2/2024 09:29 | Good to see Mr Bird doing his level best to cut costs further as outlined in an a headline I have seen as to cutting Bloomberg terminals. I hope he shows the same parsimony when it is time for the bonuses to be paid out to himself and his fellow incompetents at the company. | jubberjim

02/2/2024 08:17 | Morning Skinny I use various different sources-but the early ones tend to come from a private investors group that I'm in, so not readily accessible I'm afraid! | cwa1

28/1/2024 12:28 | Skinny: we can always rely on you for the technical data provision. investigate.co.uk is new to me - I found it for the first time this morning having googled a search for RNS's on ABDN. Never thought to look at directorate changes. Thanks. Have you any thoughts on Jason's arrival for Stephanie's departure? | mcunliffe1
28/1/2024 12:21 | They might struggle with an II sell as they paid strong money for it in the first place. As I was taught long ago, you make your profit on the purchase, not the sale. spud | spud
28/1/2024 12:01 | Spud: I feel for you. If the adherents to the wonder of BB's were not still in hibernation awaiting the slightest, consistent rise in the share price to cause a spring-like awakening they'd tell you, Spud, that a BB benefits you. I, on the other hand, believe the only benefit is the exit route provided to those wanting (desperately) to sell as there's a willing buyer in the shape of the company itself. I presume you haven't sold during the BB phase? I wonder if Abrdn are trying to fatten-up Interactive Inv. with their tasty introductory offers with a view to selling it, or, as a tempter for a complete takeover of the whole group. Does anyone know if there have beenn any new appointees to the board? If so, any of those got a track record with previous companies being taken over? Just a thought. | mcunliffe1
28/1/2024 11:23 | Currently sitting on 51k shares. If someone offered me 275p I'd bite their hand off. This definitely isn't a sleep easy stock. spud | spud
28/1/2024 09:48 | morning all. Spud: my current exposure is the 1545 shares I hold from the original float way back. Just recently I bought and sold soon after, twice, a chunk of £5k shares. 2857 on the first buy and 2928 on the second. I will be watching next week for a yo-yo opportunity and if I feel a drop in share price is overdone I may buy. I only have a short (no pun intended) window as off on hol's soon. If, at this moment, I was offered £2.70 per share I'd take it. Using the site I've provided a link to below since Jan 4th 2022 and Jan 2nd 2024 there has been a drop of 15.59% in the voting rights (shares). There are now 1,840,740,364 shares. This tells me it is less expensive to buy out this company now compared to two years ago. Back in eary 2022 the share price was up in the 250p region. There was a chunk of about £300m cash sat in the coffers then. Now, the share price is about 175p and that chunk of cash has gone. 270p-300p offer would be accepted in my view. | mcunliffe1 |
