Down to Interactive Investor maybe?
They are heavily promoting the platform with discounts on fees and introduction payments. That would cause an increase in customer numbers I would think.

These dips and rises are a treat.
Bought £5k 12 Dec and sold on 19th for a £250 profit.
Bought £5k 5th Jan and sold today for another £240 profit.

A movement of about 10p in the share price works wonders.

I have not got a clue - do any of us? But, if I get stuck with the £5k's worth I'm happy to hold if there's no share price profit awaiting the decent divi in a few months time.

Pierre: you posted "Soz I can't let you get the referral award"

I'm impressed you're bouncing me because of anonimity rather than animosity :-)

We've had our differences over S.L. and Pension v ISA's in the past.

I hope you get it sorted and the Sally Army is a good call. Again, good luck.

Thx, yes I'l have to give them a ring to get the current situation. The int rate isn't as great as i thought - the isa doesn't pay as much as a sipp, and the tiers are odd, so for example 50k get 10k at a low rate, then 40k at a higher rate (not the whole 50k at the higher rate. Plus, my fault, the cash is over 2 isas, not 1, meaning less interest. As you say, the rates will deffo go down imminently and i even may buy some shares. Still, its all better than 0.003%.

Soz I can't let you get the referral award, got to preserve my anonymity. I'll try to wangle it for myself and give it to the sally army if i manage it, so sort of a donation by you. Still got to balance the hassle and unknown v the interest. Asked idealing, my broker, if they pay interest, and got a link to the 0.003% (min 10 quid to be paid any) instead of telling me! Didn't jockey them into any action by the looks of it.

This may help:

Trading accounts receive 1.75%, 2.75% and 3.75% for the first £10k, then next £90k then any additional above £100k respectively.

Interest is paid on their ISA but although it is not overly clear it appears it means a CASH ISA. A Trading account can be added to this for free.

Given my experience of S.L. and I presume Abrdn are the same, they are sometimes less than clear with their wording. Ask them outright.

Let us know their answer please Pierre.

Thanks mcun. Was all going fine till I read this

What is the interest rate if I keep cash in my Shares ISA?
There is no interest rate applied to cash held in a Stocks and Shares ISA. Instead, growth comes from investments made in the ISA.

Afternoon Pierre, I'm with Int. Investor. I moved to them from Standard Life in March 2023. There was no cost of switching beyond the 'cost' of ech buy trx and the 0.5% stamp duty involved in re-investing the cash proceeds from my with profits and my UK Smaller companies fund I had at S.L.

I did however receive £300 from ii as an introductory offer. This amount was (then) based upon the value of the pot being moved over. I also received six months of free platform.

Now, the monthly platform fee is £12.99 for a SIPP.

They pay interest on any cash held in the account. It is tiered at 2.75% on the first 10k. Then 3.50% on the next £90k and 4% on anything above that. This paid monthly and credited to your SIPP account.

They charge £3.99 per UK share purchase/sale. They charge £0.99 per drip.

I am very happy with the service level - only time I've had a query and used their secure message facility to enquire I had a response within about a day.

Their APP is OK. I'm not a lover of app's on small screens but it does the job. It allowed me to make a purchase whilst on holiday in the middle of the Pacific so I cannot fault it in that respect.

I also use A J Bell for my three grandkid's trust fund (small) investment dealing. I'm not as enamoured with their website although, again, it serves the purpose.

Check out the offers in place with ii if you do move Pierre as they are quite decent. If you have a friend who is with ii already they can get a reward if they 'recommend' you. Check offers here:

Good luck.

Mcun, having a 6fig sum in my ISA in cash awaiting investmt and earning 0.003%interest (that's true btw), I'm interested in your broker. Any downsides/costs/service levels etc worth knowing before I switch, and do they refund costs of switching? Recommend or not? I'm happy with mine apart from the 80quid per week interest loss.

Problem with this company is that it has been run for decades by complete idiots. That Spotty bloke made out like a bandit by taking advantage of gullible management. Still I suppose its water under the bridge.

The pattern appears to be continuing. A gradual up trend - but with hesitant reluctance.

A slow, gradual rise works for me though.

I saw an Interactive Investor advert on t.v. the other night - first time I'd seen such. Cannot tremember if it linked ii clearly with Abrdn - not sure it did. So I checked, you can as well, here:

Abrdn features at the very end, as in ii is an Abrdn company.

I like the advert but feel the attention is drawn too much to the robots rather than what the humans are saying/asking.

>>>MCunliffe1. I'm not chartist either but I can see 3 things in the chart

1) A possible bowl forming - the left hand side of it from approx July - followers of them will tell you it's a bull signal

2) A possible trading channel from Oct - the 3 peaks are clear, and currently the price at the foot of the third trough in that channel

3) A possible upward trend/line going through lows of October 22 / October 23 - which if it's the one in play puts current support around 158 I would guess.

All mumbo jumbo though!!!

The dividend is what swung it for me

Sold the remnants of my Vod this am similar to Abdn in as much as doubt over dividend viability so out of the frying pan into the fire so as to speak

Still like to maintain my cash cushion when I do get off the fence

Time will tell if inspired or inspired lunacy

Good luck

I'm thinking this may be worth another £5k punt.

Bought 2928 at 169.7752

It goes against the concept of my aim for dividend income but ABDN seems unfairly priced at this level. I'll likely sell with a 10p rise in the share price in the next week or so. Next trading disclosure at 7am 24 Jan might, just might, cause a trend upwards in the share price as we get closer to that date.

One lives in hope.

Happy New Year.

For those that follow such things :-

The Company holds no ordinary shares in treasury.

The total number of voting rights in the Company, as at 31 December 2023, is therefore 1,840,740,364

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest, or a change to their interest, in the Company under the FCA's Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules.

Just sold that £5k's worth at 183.95p

The blip a week or two back taking the share price down on the back of the FCA notice re. double-dipping and not passing on interest to clients was overstated in respect of Abrdn imo.

That said, I cannot see this share moving much this side of Jan re-opening other than downwards on general disinterest.

Thought I'd take the profit.

Tempted to put £5k in RR.

Temptation won.

Have resisted the temptation to buy and will do for foreseeable future

My own gut feeling is that in this torpid market I have no incentive to add anything anywhere at theses levels.

Fomo and the buybacks dominating this particular share.

I hold lgen as my first preference but it too has been beset by the malais encompassing the financial shares.

There is no point paying 'bro' just for the sake of it .

Every broker is upping their game and outdoing each other in 'Int' paid and offered to make up for the 'AUM' decline being experienced .

Be very careful

jj: I bought £5k worth of Abrdn last week (12th) at 173.98

I'm £277 up at the moment. I may well sell this week and move the proceeds into Rolls Royce. I have my grandkids invested in RR and they have almost tripled this past year. Whilst I have an instinctive reluctance to buy a share that has tipled so quickly I believe there's still much more mileage in RR.

The topsy turvy market provides the potential for some profits if care is taken and greed is tempered.
