LONDON (ShareCast) - Council house maintenance specialist Mears' results this year will be at the top end of expectations, while its order book is now worth more than £1bn.

In a statement, the company said it has recently picked up four new contracts with Leeds City Homes, Kensington Housing Trust, London Borough of Greenwich and the London Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

A substantial amount of the turnover for the next 2 to 3 years has already been contracted, Mears added. The directors remain confident in the future prospects for the group, the statement concluded.

Pop - ta.

I see it's fallen back, bu$$er ! 21 March is quite a while away so it's a bit too early to see any pre results buying isn't it.

No reason why the results won't follow on as before, excellent profits and excellent cash control = excellent share price

MEARS GROUP PLC

Trading update

Tuesday 17th January 2006

The Board is pleased to announce that the trading results for the year ended
31 December 2005 will be at the upper end of market expectations.

Since our last announcement we have secured four new contract awards with Leeds
City Homes, Kensington Housing Trust, London Borough of Greenwich and the London
Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

The order book is now in excess of £1billion and the Group continues to enjoy a
healthy pipeline of both outstanding tenders and future opportunities. A
substantial amount of the turnover for the next 2 to 3 years has already been
contracted to the Group.

Cash collection has been strong and combined with a sound balance sheet this
provides a very stable platform for predictable future growth.

The Directors remain confident in the future prospects for the Group.

Blindfaith - I guess you are right as it had no reflection on the share price. Hopefully the trend will continue and we will get a positive trading statement tommorrow pushing the share price back through the 300 barrier and IMHO I would expect to see 350 in the very near future.

has run hard so always likely to have a pull-back. Perhaps a few chips being taken off the table but if good results as expected, will provide a stronger upward bias after this healthy pull-back.

Any views on todays sell out. Dropped back to £3 on small sales. Do you think we are seeing the cautious bug out before tomorrows update? If its on track then we should see them all scramble back. If not so then could we see a retraction to 2.80?
