25/8/2005 17:10 | Quite on hear of late. Mears usually have a good burst prior to, or shortly following the results. As the figures are due on tuesday of next week does anybody anticipate a rise as we fast approach i.e. tommorrow!!!! Or will it follow the announcement? Any views appreciated. | popout
20/8/2005 15:18 | deehill - funny you should say that as it looks like me and the missus and our cats may be returning to the UK. I think I'll come as an illegal immigrant this time and claim the lot including cat allowance (there's bound to be one). I can't stand this corrupt, inefficient country any longer so I'm coming home. I know the UK is just as corrupt but it's more efficient and at least they speak English (well, most of them do). As an aquaintance of mine out here said 'I've lived out here for 25 years and they still don't speak English'. In fact they don't even speak Spanish here. It's Valenciano which is like Welsh with olive oil. This morning was typical. I'm selling some CDs on eBay (part of my slimming down drive) and yesterday I posted one in Benissa to the UK in a jiffy bag, cost 1.39. Today I go into Moraira to post an identical package but the computer's down so they can't sell me stamps. But Teulada's open so off I drive. Same package, CD in jiffy bag, different post office this time 2.80. How the hell can you do business. Benissa town hall have decided to change ALL the street names to Valenciano so nobody knows where anyone lives anymore and my replacement gold card has found it's way back to the UK with gone away on the envelope. Anyway I'm 3 years out of touch with the UK so if you could send me a list of benefits I can claim, that would be appreciated. | tinker
19/8/2005 17:47 | mickconn11. Please advise where I can locate the mam boiler room thread. Thanks. | popout
19/8/2005 16:25 | deehill Your chances are about as high as Blair attending Mo Mowlem's funeral. I once put all my eggs in one basket and it turned out that Humpty Dumpty was carrying it. Plus when the price started to drop I couldn't sell them all (nms and all that) so lost even more than I should have. Won't do that again. MER is 27% of my portfolio and I reckon that's enough. | tinker

15/8/2005 10:52 | Regrettably, there will come a time to sell. We, probably, have had the best years. There is a further problem for me in that Mears form 69% of my portfolio and whilst this has been excellent in the past you KNOW that you are flying against every advice package there is. BUT it has made so much money in the past that its difficult to break the habit. One thing I do know. I dont think I would, now, have the guts to do as I did with Mears. Literally, I bet ALL and it paid off so handsomely but what are the chances that I could repeat the trick? | deehill

10/8/2005 08:32 | One other dodge is to tell them that Mr.... is on vacation but specifically asked that any Investment calls be referred to him. Then give them five alternate American numbers to call - they will, take my word. | deehill
09/8/2005 16:23 | Thanks for your replies regarding the 'boiler house' phone call. Comments were most appreciated and should they ring again I shall ask them to hold on whilst I answer my office phone. Meanwhile I am looking forward to the Mears results, not long now. Good to see them tipped by broker Redmayne Bentley in their recent mailshot. | popout
09/8/2005 14:36 | From where I'm sitting, I can assure you that Conchita is not a natural blonde . . . although, come to think of it, that moustache could be died. | tinker
06/8/2005 11:41 | Thats the trouble with the 'Conchita's' of this world. They love to show of their bodies to Puritans such as you and I. If your detox session is, in fact, shorter than 45 mins then be advised that you are in the hands of a quack. I'm told that there is an abundance of them in your area and they all are blonde, have large breasts and few clothes. Just what a quack should be. | deehill
05/8/2005 15:47 | deehill. Yes the world is my hamster too. I did get one of your books. It got washed up onto Moraira beach. Am working on translating it into English as we speak. Not reached the chapter on loose women yet so won't be giving them up for a while. As for your deetox, 45 minutes sounds a long time to me. I prefer a shorter course. Am setting up the stirrup pump and getting ready for lift-off . . . ah, that's better. Now back to the booze. Conchita, fetch my Tequila and will you please put some clothes on. | tinker
05/8/2005 15:12 | Hi Tinker. Long time no hear. Let me clarify the situation. The MAIN aim of many clinics is to wean their patients OFF the booze, bad habits, liking for loose women etc. For a certain, select, grouping Doctors have begun to realize that such evils CAN be positively beneficial. Naturally, there is a heavy waiting list of patients wishing to see these doctors. Certain parties have commenced putting our idea's into print and circulating them, I assume that YOU have found one of these copies and have, thus, cured yourself. PLEASE keep us all posted as to your progress. Unfortunately I have to go thro' the deprivation excercise before I can be permitted the sinful delight of returning to my old ways BUT one of my Doctors has assured me that he can short circuit this process and condense it into a 45 minute detox session. Then, apparently, the world is my oyster, again. | deehill

05/8/2005 12:09 | deehill, having been sunning myself for a few weeks out here in sunny Spain and just staggered up from the pool for another Tequila Sunrise before lunch. Saw your remark on post 290 "Even Tinker in Spain cured himself!!!" You're absolutely right. I really am now totally cured . . . as I was telling Napoleon this morning. Anyway, I can't be mad or I'd have sold my MER stock by now! | tinker |
