16/2/2012 16:32 | tp markets are not random because the money will always remain with the few who are the smartest but they are far smarter and always will be than some ta i studied lots of ta for many years and some of it has an edge just ...EW mainly because it sort of maps out how markets work . the edge can only be used successfuly if you know how to trade . there are markets and there is trading , marrying the 2 is the hardest thing to do. to me its knowing where i am wrong and cutting sounds easy but would you be prepared to risk 40 points to make 30. If its a trade yes if it is not no. | let it be
16/2/2012 15:38 | to be sure hes talking sense CT, but thats more general trading advice, I was hoping the thread would be more about whether graphs work, why ppl who dont use them dont use them and what they do use, maybe some examples from them etc... perhaps all advfn'ers use graphs, dont subscribe to EMT and understand all the moves in the markets they follow? ...or havent looked in cos they dont know latin and cant be bothered to google lol ;) | tpaulbeaumont
10/2/2012 08:53 | excellent point CT :) shame no fundi-only players or EMT'ers have joined the convo? | tpaulbeaumont
09/2/2012 15:57 | printing a slightly greater extreme price before reversing isnt a 'chart' thing though is it? before technicals or computer charts markets were doing that :) I dont know what EMT ppl would say about it though? some slightly worse data came out before all the data suddenly got better?? whats the lagging pink line on your graph CT? | tpaulbeaumont
09/2/2012 12:54 | its a clock joe, called a natal chart ct - i think what most ppl who dont like charts will say though, is thats its only of use in hindsight? drawing lines on in hindsight isnt much use for today or more importantly tomorrow? your example is pointing higher, "but with fiscal stimulus etc i already knew that" is what i imagine they'll say? where might it bend at the end too? i agree on MACD and most oscillators, very subjective imo, although the timeframe surely only reflects the timeframe you intend to trade; if one scalps you wont take signals from a weekly MACD? | tpaulbeaumont |
