Why does companies like WHY always feel the easiest way out of self inflicted problems is to shaft the shareholders? Are shareholders Stupid? Vote No!

White Young Green (WHY, 10.5p, £5.56m) Start of the new financial year from 1st July to 18 November has been in-line with management expectations. The group has also agreed the re-financing and will put the proposals to investors soon. We maintain the HOLD recommendation until the impact of the refinancing is known.

looks like a good little company, has their share price decline only been because of the recession? or has there been a consolidation

knock27 i feel for you...it is the crass over-amitin ofthe previous management that has led to the current predicament and NOT the actions of those at the coal face...BUT the facts are that the company still has a mountain of debt and now some penal pref shares along with it.

squire, there is a glitch in advfn, the price is actually down and not up, 9.5mid

Chrisjg - what a breath of fresh air - understand why you remain out, agree that it will be a long haul, but welcome your good wishes to holders and staff in which categories I qualify. Not many investors think beyond their bottom line!

Your summation is correct - "they have a solid reputation to deliver a quality service" and there are still many gifted and exceptionally qualified/experienced staff within the company who can deliver profit given the eventual return to investment in infrastructure, commercial and residential development both in UK and internationally.

tonester - perhaps not market leader but IMO they have a solid reputation to deliver a quality service. An article in the NCE suggests a down sizing and reduced turnover over the next few years and a delisting to the aim.

I certainly hope they make it and think they will but it will be a very long hall for investors.

I remain out and will perhaps only buy back in once all becomes much clearer.

all the best to the holders and those working for WYG

have I got my sums wrong?

Existing shareholders will hold 15% of a company that made £12 profit before exceptionals. So our stake is £1.8 million, divide this by the current market cap then this makes a p/e ratio of just 3

"60% of this company has always been held by major Inst - employees on board now and new directors ......... think they are wanting a return to the good old days, given time i am sure they will do it.!!"

I share the employee's pain. I want a Lamborghini, a teen aged girlfriend & a winning lottery ticket. I ain't getting any of those either.

squire when they get to the 3-4p range i will reverse my position and go long if that is any consolation...providing of course they survive the next 6 months and the move to AIM, which will undoubtedly force the unwinding of many holdings

21:22
well squire i admire your balls/naivity for it means that we can clean up by going short...take the no of shares ion issue, dilute them massively in line wit the equation above and divide into £1million, the results are lowerthan my range, ie 1p at best, so go ahead and buy, but please don't say that you were not warned. and for the avoidance of doubt i am short on this stock, as per previous posts and will remain so certainly until the EGM

STRICKEN WYG PLANS RESTRUCTURING

Engineering consultant White Young Green is planning a restructuring
package that will hand 60 per cent of the company to its lenders. If the plan is
successful, the value of shareholders' investments will fall to less than one
million pounds. Lloyds , RBS and Fortis UK, the company's
principal lenders, will continue to defer tests on WYG's debt covenants until
the result of consultations determines whether the restructuring will be
approved. The extraordinary meeting must be held before December 14. WYG's
shares, which have plummeted 91 percent over the past year, closed down one
pence at 10.75 pence.

squire, just burn your money. It'll save time.
