|Very steep cliff|
|As a long term follower and occasional investor I'd say Tate doesn't go for setbacks. Instead, every now and again it falls right off a cliff!|
|Seems to be doing great since the Libertun kiss of death.
Buy quality companies when they're down and you can't go wrong long term.
Having said that, tate has had a few bits of good luck - suger being seen as more deadly than before (should switch some consumption out of sugar into tate's artificial sweetners, ditto fizzy sugared drinks, dollar earners going up, move to divi stocks, still on 3.6% divi which isn't shabby for a recovering world leading company.
The annoying thing for me is i just got two tranches before this took off and hasn't really had a setback since (which is when i try to buy further lots), so although it's a great performer, it's not at my usual level of holding. So maybe a mini party is in order.|
|Libertum rec is the kiss of death..........|
|Wow... let's all have a party|
|Liberum Capital today reaffirms its buy investment rating on Tate & Lyle PLC (LON:TATE) and raised its price target to 795p (from 790p).
Not the highest increased target price ever, but at least it's in the right direction.
+50% + a divi in 15 months in a big share like this. Wish i could do it more often.|
|Well done taters.
The price ran away from me while building up a sizeable position here. Still, just have to settle with a lower than average amount for the time being.|
|Only 2% of income comes from the UK. That ought to be in their favour.|
|Today's trading statement says strong start to year at constant currency rates.
With most earnings in dollars, in £ terms the profits look much higher imo.
price 690 odd and i'm thinking of buying more|
|Sold my last holding here at 624 . Happy to have held but decided to swap for some more bombed out blue chips.|
|I'm still buying at these levels or thereabouts... just waiting for a down market day to squeeze the last 10/20/30p. But solid world leadinging companies like this can recover their former glory with price rises over several years after being trashed... look at bt, for example. And while they do you pocket a decent divi every few months.
So glad i read 'investment for beginners' by jim slater all those years ago.|
|Looks like I was a few weeks too early...|
|Certainly a contrast to last yr. Wonder if it will recover share price to 2013 levels , or has the company been tainted in the City by last yr?|
|Sweet results, looking like they're back on track. EPS up, debt down, high divi maintained. A recovering fallen angel as Slater would say.|
|Sold out today for a small ish gain plus whatever dividends. Watch it get taken over now!|
|Another few pence will see my trading stock out again , taken 2 months to get to 10% . But better than the West Bromwich.....|
|Tate & Lyle confirms that trading performance for the fourth quarter of the year ended 31 March 2016 was in line with both expectations and the outlook included in the trading statement of 11 February 2016. (Yesterday)
That will do, compared with previous profits warnings!|
|Chart looking strong ; £6 again soon?|

here's why some fundies havent a clue...
The announcement of a two-tiered sugar tax on drinks companies sent sugar-related shares to the floor.
They included those of Tate & Lyle, the British brand most associated with the white stuff. Shares fell around 4pc before investors realised that Tate & Lyle sold off their sugar business nearly seven years ago and are now all about sweeteners.
and we have seen the same in Lloyds many times.
push the button on the keyboard first and ask questions later..|
|El, it's not in their diet so I'd guess they manufacture it. Are you trying to make the point that some animals grow big and strong without meat/fat in their diets? Irrelevant if so.|
|where do teh Cows your eating get their saturated fats from shorecrab? they grow pretty big and strong|
|its was a typo shorecrab|
