Off course I am focusing only upon the agriculture sector, and the ramifications for Tate were fructose syrup be vulnerable to no agreement being reached, or punitive duties be placed upon corn based products!

I actually think this company is bloody cheap at the moment, just irked that it has been marked down on a slightly cautious sentence in the last statement, and what is being suggested above concerning NAFTA; you have farmers in Indiana stating the abolition of the free trade agreement being disastrous for them, and Florida tomato producers as being hopeful of higher tariffs being placed upon imported produce from Mexico, the other side of the coin are the citrus growers in Florida requiring a continuity in the existing agreement, so it may be that Trump should let the negotiators decide rather than thrusting himself into the argument!

Hi Phil, the states most impacted by a NAFTA dissolution are staunch GOP areas, so would be surprised to see the pact come to an end. From memory NAFTA was also ratified by the House and Senate, I'm unsure if Trump constitutionally could take a sole decision on this. There are also agreements on exports with Mexico outside of NAFTA and renewed last September, which cover some of the areas TATE operates in. I could be wrong of course!.

Nafta has been in the wings for quite a long time. The recent drop is as if there's been a big profit warning, whereas they are actually in line, despite investment slowing second half growth. In a positive market, that would have been an update to consolidate the share price, following by good noises about them investing for the future. Looks like people are jumping out of their skins, whenever anyone says 'boo' at the moment.

I would rather an activist investor, Ahmed done an ok job in a very uninspiring sector, but this needs to be shaken up, it has gone nowhere in the last six years, a relatively small company in the big world of food products and additives, would do better as part of a bigger entity, and without the scrutiny of an independent! Easy takeover, at the right price shareholders would grab the cash, US seems to be the issue with the growth part, but the Far East the future.

Chart support at 535p then again at 505p. Maybe a few of the other board members should be buying a few if they're such good value here ;-)

Takeover rumours will re-emerge at these levels, seems unreasonable that price come off so much on one line in the last statement about investment for the future slowing growth profile, but that is the market, rumours abounded two tears ago, and low debt profile should prove attractive to predators, not sure where they will emerge from as Bunge, once an interested party, now being eaten by by ADM.

Yes it's potentially an attractive bid target, however would not consider buying TATE for that reason. Buy if you like the Company and think risk/reward looks reasonable longer term.

It is a value play to a predator, relatively low net debt, even lower pension deficit, and stable, if steady, profits, potentially a nice addition to a larger entity in a consolidating market!

Bought in today at £5.69, these are in takeover territory now imho. £7.50 would probably take this out, given the share price was £7 only a few weeks ago that would be a decent buy for the buyer.

There are a lot of moving parts to TATE, FX, commodity prices, NAFTA, Sucralose oversupply etc. However, compare the valuation of PURE to TATE. Now in fairness PURE is focussed on one area, even so, look at the comparative Pre tax and in particular FCF of both businesses re their respective market caps.
