Directors buying and this mornings news all we need now is the share price to react :))

This CHP Plant will generate a strong return on investment in the plant's equity as well as providing the Group with a 16 year biomass fuel supply contract, a long-term wood drying income stream and valuable engineering revenue on the development.

Increasingly, we are seen as being a very reliable fuel supplier and so the partner of choice, which is why we are already the leading UK supplier of biomass, a position which we anticipate strengthening further"

Me too.I have 58000 of them, bought steadily on the way down from 137 to 98. So hoping those I bought at 98 and 108 will be ripe for selling soon.

Narrower spreads. More volume. Slow rise. Will it go above 100 and stay there today?

interestingly diverging views above, and I can see both sides, but would just add that there may be a 'whiff of allied fiefdoms' here - with 'best mates' Andrew Tinkler and William Stobart running the new Stobart, and the old Stobart, respectively. The 'new' having a 49% stake in the 'old' (which it 'sold' - in effect to William). If this 'all' works out - then 'great'. If not, I fear that the market may ponder on, as to whether or not we really have the right people in the right jobs, and for the right reasons. Is Carlisle the centre of the universe? or Southend?, maybe, but various bets have been placed on behalf of equity-holders that are (so far) not paying off. Caution (and further research) is required. The next formal update, on 23/10/14, will be interesting. ex

Ricky46 your entitled to your opinion, for me this is recovery play with a new strategy adopted by the board, debt is being paid down, there is growth at Stobart Air and biomass are increasing tonnage albeit at a lower margin. The market cap doesn't seem high when you take into account the book value of properties at 273 million and revenues nearing 100 million, net assets of 460 million..
Losts to look forward too imv..

Green energy investment to come in the next six months,
more property disposals
plans to develop the infrastructure division
rail revenues up 40%
New distribution centre in Carlisle given the go ahead
6p dividend 4.85% safe.

It's a three or four year view that will realise value for shareholders....

Why is this a good recovery play? The logistics/warehousing side was the only part making any decent money and that's gone private with this group only holding 49% you can be sure all the good assets will have gone with it! Also the main holder of the part that has gone private W Stobart has started another haulage company called WS Transportation, so you can be sure any decent contracts going forward Eddie stobart will lose to this business! So 49% of a loss making haulage company comes to nothing!
All spoke and mirrors!
No money in biomass, no money in anything this group is doing in my view, and it's got a £395 million mkt cap

Plans for the £20 million overhaul of Carlisle Airport have been given the go ahead - again.

A special meeting of Carlisle City Council took place this morning, with councillors asked to approved Stobart Group's proposals for a massive freight distribution centre and revamped runway.

Councillor Ray Bloxham expressed concerns over potential traffic congestion but no councillor voted against the motion to approve officers' recommendations.

Speaking to the News & Star after the meeting, Stobart Group chief executive Andrew Tinkler said that work could begin within "a couple of months" - provided there are no legal challenges.

M&G own a fair chunk and have recently been repaid by Stobart as M&G lent them a fair amount from their Companies Financing Fund. Woodford has also retained confidence but forced through changes last year to improve governance etc.

A slight worry is that the price isn't holding up despite large share buy backs.

As long as property sales continue and debt stays at sustainable levels then you'd hope the company as it is now will grow and keep the dividends coming.

My worry is that there is still concern over whether the company is being run for the good of all shareholders.

Essential

A quick google would confirm that he has set up on his own and it would appear that one of his first purchases was a sizeable chunk of Stobart from the fund that he ran for invesco.
