15/1/2009 08:21 | Johne1 - nice to hear from you as always. Am annoyed that McCabe intimated that Beattie was released on the understanding that there was someone in the background waiting to come in. Obviously this was not correct and fans are understandably worried that now Lita has turned us down (and he's some way down the pecking order at Reading) then who will come to SUFC who can get the goals Beattie does? For a team in 4th place in January to sell Beattie (without his goals we would be somewhere like 15th) FOR A LOSS seems to be a resignation of deciding to play the rest of the season out and whatever happens, happens. This does not seem like a club fighting to get into the PL. | s66blade
15/1/2009 01:48 | s66blade - 13 Jan'09 - 09:18 - 2738 of 2740 How you doin'? Some good points there!, especially regarding Hendrie, I think. What a mess he made at Carrow Road, for us to travel home with on our minds. He's got great skills, but the mindset of a two year old. Regarding Beattie, I agree also. If every regular at The Lane were asked if he should stay or go...............No need to finish that one. However, I had a feeling that he would go. Who takes those great spot kicks now? - Henderson? As always, plenty to gripe about, but I still take my hat off to Blackwell. Long throws will be a Bromby bonus. I hated the lad for so long, then he perked up. I noticed that at Bloomfield road, just before he left. I think Robson had given him an ultimatum. So, I just get to like the lad and he's gone. Not sure about having him back though, because Halfords throws are far more superior. Now there's a good signing, if it were possible. Best regards to you and yours Up The Blades!!!!!!!!!! | johne1
13/1/2009 23:19 | Bromby just didn't settle. I know what he is capable of and he is the kind of player who will be highly motivated to get his career back on track. As for Beattie??? It was an expected backlash from the fans but mark my words, the team have not altogther played well with him in the side. His equaliser against Wednesday last season popularised and endeared him amongst the faithful. However, a promotion push can't be based around one player. It's good, common financial sense to sell a player who will depreciate in value- particularly when his contract expires. The argument of having to find another proven striker doesn't wash with me. The team will evolve through a good work ethic and a new, younger and fitter personnel. It was claimed that Beattie's wage would have taken up 35% of any future outlay. I believe that to be too much of a risk- despite his previous track record popularity. He'll pick a penalty or two for Stoke but he isn't Premiership standard anymore. I am more concerned that Stoke don't stay up and we lose out on a million than anything else. It will be a hard ask for them to manage to stay up there but I hope that they do so that United can claim more funding for more realisitic signings. | chatterjee1932
13/1/2009 12:57 | funny they dont say why he was sold at a loss despite him going to a premiership club. | outsourcer
13/1/2009 09:18 | chatterjee - how is it good business? we bought him for £4million. he's scored a lot of goals (bearing in mind he missed quite a few games due to injury) and therefore increased his value but we sell him at a loss. Mr McCabe is possibly not the astute businessman we had him down for (except for when it comes to delisting the company in anticipation of getting a payout from West Ham). Also, Bromby back? What is the thinking there? He was in his worst form ever for us and I was relieved to see him go. Watford fans are posting that they are glad he has gone. As for Beattie's wages - they were budgeted for at the beginning. If anyone should go who does nothing but gets high wages it should be Hendrie. Must be on £15k a week at least? | s66blade
13/1/2009 08:14 | if we are willing to sell our best players at a knocked down price and at a loss then it hardly inspires confidence in our promotion push. I was going to hold onto my shares but this shows that the two Kevs have no clue and I guess the reasoning they will give are his wages are too high, but what does matter if you aim to back in the Premiership next season. | outsourcer
12/1/2009 22:08 | 3.5 million- potentially if Stoke stay up. Good business. Now let's move on...we can build a more balanced team not reliable on one player's penalties. | chatterjee1932
12/1/2009 21:49 | Hi Outsourcer, contact your broker and they will instruct you. Good signing- Leigh bromby returning! May be taht could be a masterstroke. Blades desperate for a centre-half. Broms return fits the bill. MCcabe and Blackwell have handled the Beats situation brilliantly. Stoke should put up or shut up- 4 million for a proven goalscorer. Lita and Kitson would be sound replacements. Chats | chatterjee1932
12/1/2009 16:55 | does anyone know what we need to do to sell our shares, I went the J P Jenkins site but cant see how you put your shares up for sale | outsourcer
10/1/2009 12:52 | Matched bargains will be facilitated by J P Jenkins Ltd: I rate the shares a hold. | victorjohn
07/1/2009 16:30 | when/how are we going to find out about the matched bargain facility | outsourcer
07/1/2009 13:52 | Outsourcer, the shares will still be able to trade on a matched bargain facility- similar to other football shares that aren't listed on the exchange. I understand that JP Jenkins will be the facilitator but that is yet to be confirmed. Best Wishes for 2009 ! Chatterjee32 | chatterjee1932
07/1/2009 08:20 | thats all then folks | outsourcer
06/1/2009 14:24 | once we delist will any announcement be made as to how many shares are still held by us lowly PI's and how many by Big Kev and his related parties ? | outsourcer
05/1/2009 18:18 | This is an attempt to mop up the shares now to stop the number of people demanding 10p in the 1st quarterly sell off This should hold up and it gets them off the hook, they must have received a lot of bitter complaints after the delist | mryesyes
05/1/2009 10:43 | and the share price keeps rising perhaps a last ditched attempt to get the rest of the shares back at a cheap price | outsourcer
04/1/2009 20:04 | Will be interesting to see what the share price does tomorrow with it finishing on a high on friday. | jasper28
02/1/2009 22:31 | Jasper has got it right- again. I don't believe that there are any surprises in what directors will or will not pay out. JP Jenkins stockbrokers will probably administer the matched bargain facility- should anyone wish to buy or sell their stock for the next twelve months. As for the football... Kevin McCabe has been a great and strong leader of the Blades' justice plea. The east end of London is not his most popular place and I reckon we will come unstuck tomorrow for one of the shocks of the round unless one of the academy can shine at Brisbane Road ! Hope I'm wrong. Up The Blades ! | chatterjee1932
02/1/2009 16:42 | I beleive they can buy and then sell for the 8.5p, indeed that is what mcCabe hinted at during the AGM. | jasper28
02/1/2009 14:40 | 4-7, last buy 5.9. Looks like a low volume game going on with folk thinking they can sell back at 8.5p or whatever is deemed to be the price the day before the delisting was announced. I think you need to look at their club website. The increase in the price you can get to sell is not that much, up 1p Its a gamble on whether they would buy back from you at a profit and what exactly you could do about it if they added in dealing costs or made it impossible/refused you as a speculator who only bought to fleece them at the last minute There will be no-one on your side if they do not give you a profit in the first quarterly offer but I suppose at best you have an equal chance with other holders. Even at 8.5p or anything under 10p they are still quids in meanwhile they can take any surplus stock off the MMs they get from sellers at 4-5p today Its not something I feel happy about doing, but there may have been a promise in the programme notes. If for whatever reason you dont get the higher price in the first quarterly sale after that it could be 1p the next time | mryesyes
02/1/2009 14:28 | I can only imagine they will restrict the offer to those who bought shares from them directly or to season ticket holders (those who can prove they are supporters. This rise today, whats the spread, | mryesyes
02/1/2009 11:28 | What's to stop punters buying up to 500k (or as much as you can up to that price) at sub 8.5p and then selling them back to the company this quarter and making a 'turn' that way? | scrapheap |
